Hello, Hive!
I am Oluwatosin from Nigeria. I came to know about this platform through my sister @princessbusayo. I have always seen her so active on Hive, how she used to post and write articles on Hive and I could notice her consistency with the platform for some years now. I featured in the video she posted yesterday and I felt glad reading the comments on it where the users were asking if I am on Hive yet. She was so kind to remind and force me to join Hive just yesterday, she guided me through the process of signing up which wasn't so difficult to do because she paid a little fee through Ecency to get onboarded. My username is oluwa-tosin. The hyphen was included as the way I wanted it to be has been taken by someone else.
She explained that Hive is a decentralized blockchain, that the world is going digital and Web 3 is the way now. The only social media I am used to are Facebook and WhatsApp. I guess it's time to stop wasting my time over there but join this amazing blockchain to learn and earn too. I still do not understand much about all she has been trying her best to explain to me, I believe many of us were like this on our first day but after being accustomed to the platform knew a lot of things. She told me that Hive is vast and that one cannot know it all in one day. I heard there are lots of communities where we can choose and join which one suits us, and I would want to see for myself how things work here. My sister has amazing friends here and I believe they would guide me too because I am willing to learn.
Right now, she has told me to download Discord, Twitter and Grammarly which I will do so soon.

Like I said earlier, my name is Oluwatosin, I'm from Kwara State, Nigeria. My hobbies are dancing, singing, watching movies, reading novels, and cooking. I am schooling in Lokoja, Kogi state, Nigeria. I am going to 200 level next year in January and also studying Sociology. I am 20 years old.
Let me tell you about my course, Sociology. It is a scientific and systematic study of human society that focuses on society, human social behaviour, patterns of social relationships, social interaction, and aspects of culture associated with everyday life. Sociology also talks about social life, social change, and some causes and consequences of human behaviour. The reason why people study Sociology is to understand reasons for social differences, and the relevance of social hierarchies and social power in everyday life. Sociology helps us to understand society and Psychology helps us to understand the mind of each individual.
My favourite foods are Eba with Okra and Yam with egg. My favourite colours are black, baby pink and yellow, though I wear any colour of clothes as long it looks so fitted and good on me. I love dogs but it saddened me that I don't have any yet.
Why did I join Hive?
It had been a long I saw my sister talking about Hive to me but I didn't take it seriously because I thought I couldn't write and it wasn't something I was born to do. But it dawned on me that writing is for everyone. Every individual writes for different purposes. Some write for fun, others for money etc. Also, every student writes when they need to copy notes from the board, parents write letters to send to their families staying at a far distance etc. Some say writing is fun and even though it is, I suck at writing for a long.
I am a student and I wonder how my sister would always send money to my brother and me for upkeep, many times I wonder how she gets the money because she isn't working like going out to an office except staying at home. Now, I know the secret which is Hive. I also want to come and taste what she has been enjoying all these years. Apart from this, I am not a reader even though I immerse myself in novels but with me being on this blockchain, I guess it's time to pat myself and get ready to start feeding my eyes with amazing content which I would learn from.
My sister has been so amazing in the aspect of financial responsibility and I also want to be able to help myself so I don't keep bothering her. Hey, don't get me wrong because some would be like "Is she only on Hive for the money? I believe everyone here had the mindset at first when they joined but along the line, fell in love with the platform to build their account. It is my goal for this new year too.
It is for this reason she put me through Hive so I could have something to rely on and fall back on and as a student, to help me financially even when I need support. Above all, I want to explore and understand more about Web 3 which is far different from Web 2 social media. So, I will be happy if you guys will welcome me wholeheartedly.
