What is independence?
Now, a whole lot of us still till sate don't understand fully the meaning of independence, it ways and what exactly it entails to be independent.
Independence literally means freedom. Not just freedom as we all call it or see it to be, but freedom in this context is ability to do all we want, the right things of course.
Freedom to live.
Freedom to move freely without fear of mishap.
Freedom to associate with literally everyone no matter the class or anything.
Freedom to own any property of ones choice without anyone discriminating or saying ill things on how it was acquired.
Freedom to also not want to mingle or associate with everyone, cos its our choice and decision to make, right?
Virtually, independence is freedom to life and everything therein.
I recently traveled to Abuja, and was opportuned to see few places, people, and other things too.
But before this, it came to my notice that the long term picture of how Abuja is, that's the picture that was described to me wasn't what i met, now, i noticed that few places in Abuja lack plenty things and all and it makes me wonder, is it that this people and places aren't eligible to have access to a semi good life? Don't they deserve good things too? Don't they have freedom to the good things of life? Are they supposed to languish in wants?
But then these same people that don't even know how the next livelyhood will be all came out to celebrate INDEPENDENCE but deep they are not independent, they don't even know what it meemans to be independent.
I hear some people talk about independence and how the country has gone from this to that and all, but then it keeps getting worse by the day...
Some days i wonder if we're leaving in fear or freedom.
Because if truly we're free, we'll all always look forward to celebrating independence the best way we can, but this 62nd celebration wasn't what we all expected it to be, deep down most of us are craving for a more better way to celebrate independence, an independence that is free of fear, danger, insecurities, inflation, scarcity, insurgencies, burglary, robbery, kidnaps, killing and all.
We all want that missing piece returned so that the celebration of independence will be worth it again.
