I got robbed on Hive // Fui roubado no Hive

in #hive-1745782 years ago

I was putting off this post because of the frustration I'm feeling, but I think the more time I spend the less I want to think about it, and above all, as much as the level of anger is immense and the desire to let it go is great. , I think that's when we should move.

wwefun.png

Well then. I was robbed here at Hive. Simple as that, overnight, a bastard got into my account (I don't know how) and simply transferred the 223 hives I had. I had been waiting for ages, ages to sell these Hives, waiting for the market value to recover and yesterday by chance I decided to access ecency to take a look (lately I haven't had the mood to post here) and to my surprise the money was gone. .. I immediately went to observe the transfers wishing it was a technical problem, but no, there it was.

screenshot_1.png

Obviously I didn't know who this @wwefun was and there was no reason I should have transferred that money to him. Desperate I went to Discord for help and had the help of the very helpful @thekittygirl who told me that this damn useless bastard, human garbage, walking rotten named @wwefun is a well-known thief on Hive and that uses user slips to steal your accounts. Normally this would happen through the user's mistake of putting his password in the "memo" when making a transfer, but I'm 99% sure that I didn't make that mistake! Of course, anyone can make mistakes, but I've been using the Hive to Binance transfer system for over a year now and I've NEVER done that! And likewise, I believe I have not made any downloads to be stolen by "pishing". And it's just driving me crazy because I DON'T KNOW how this damn bastard accessed my account. Plus he didn't change my password, he just logged in, transferred my money and left. At least that's what it looks like. So I took the opportunity to quickly change the keys so that he can no longer access it, but honestly? I'm not feeling safe at all, and I don't know how to feel safe around here again.

I lost an amount that was really big for me, I needed to pay bills with that money. And the most feeling of our current situation of modernity governed by cryptocurrencies system is exactly to know who the "thief" is, see his "face", know his "address" and not be able to do ANYTHING. Because this is part of decentralization, of freedom. I wonder to what extent the concept of virtual freedom and protection and independence works, if in this case a criminal already known for stealing money from the social network is walking around, does it mean that a pedophile could fill Hive with pedophilia without being punished? Not even having his profile taken down? Anyway, I just used this example to try to understand all this shit. But now let's get to the facts, I can't do anything now that I've lost the money, at least that's what I understood, even so I was curious to observe this son of a bitch's behavior and observed that:

screenshot_2.png

His profile is worthless. He's been active since 2018. And he looks like a motherfucking robot.

screenshot_3.png
Interestingly it has 8 followers!! And one of them even with a relatively high score: @marcusmalone

screenshot_4.png
Apparently the human-garbage lives off theft transfers, as we can see here. I could even enter each of the profiles of those who were stolen by him to try to communicate, but honestly I lack energy for that and after all, following the rules of the community I ask myself: Would this be of any use?

afdf.png
Even so, I went to take a look at who was receiving or sending to @wwefun and I discovered several profiles that look like bots just like him, and curiously some real profiles that are used, like this one @dexpartacus , which made me very curious .

b.png
Why would he be sending Hives to this @mxchive? And of course, @mxchive gets it from people like the human-trash @wwefun. Is it a money theft network? Is it an obese 26-year-old virgin doing this through bot programming? I don't know!

I do not know anything else. I can't get anything through this, I just wanted to share my frustration, my indignation, and my absolute guilt-free hatred for people like these who live like worms.

wwefun.png

Pois bem. Eu fui roubado aqui no Hive.

Hi. Sorry to hear about your loss of funds. Do you use Hive Keychain add-on?

I do use the Hive Keychain, but I believe a flaw is that my Ecency also has the login memorized by the Edge browser, which I use. It could be that I did something that left my browser vulnerable, although I can't imagine how it happened!

So sorry for losing your fund @thomashnblum this is very depressing going through that thief's account and seeing the numbers of people he had stolen from, then to think that there is nothing anyone can do about it, is so sad.

Yes, it's a very complicated and sad situation, vulnerability takes all the fun out of this journey! Thanks for reading and commenting!

Thanks for the alert. Everyone must be careful.

If you want to change your keys, I have an online service that does precisely that:

https://hivetasks.com/change-password

After your alert, I'm going to use it now.

By the way, if you have a spare vote, consider me or @perfilbrasil to be among your supported witnesses.

Thank you Fernando.
I already exchanged my keys, but anyway, good to know about this link!
I'm still very afraid of a new invasion, but the hive system seems so insecure now, it could at least have an ip login alert or something... Anyway, thanks for commenting!

Obrigado Fernando.

Dear @thomashnblum, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.
https://peakd.com/me/proposals/199

Your support would be really helpful and you could make a difference.
Thank you!

This is so sad! Sometimes I wonder how they get to do these things without having their conscience blame them for stealing another man's hard earned money. I'm glad he didn't even log you out because many of them log out the real owners and change the keys claiming all the token in that account. Sad this had to happen at a time you most needed the money.

Yes, I was really lucky that he didn't steal my account, but at the same time it made me very suspicious and worried. And yes, that kind of person is cold-blooded and I doubt that even he would care to know about people complaining and regretting being robbed, probably for that kind of person we are just unimportant specks of dust. I would love for him to read this post, so much so that I made a point of quoting him, but I doubt he will, this seems much more like an automatic system, a bot programmed to steal, where for the guy what matters are the numbers and nothing most. Anyway, thanks for the comment!

Even if he gets to read the post, I think his wicked mind won't feel guilt because at this point he doesn't even have a conscience anymore. Have a great day

Really sorry this happened. Yeah, keys in a memo, or logging into a phishing site, which can happen from bad links are the most obvious ways someone can get your keys.

I understand your anger and frustration, sorry to hear it.

So sorry about this, it is painful I know, I also went through this a month back, I feel something should be done about this people,or bots rather, a strict implementation should be done to stop this kind of theft

Thanks for the comment! And I'm sorry you went through something similar too! The problem is that I don't see much of a solution for this kind of thing, or rather, I hadn't even heard of this kind of event around here. I even wonder if anyone is concerned about taking care of this kind of thing, if there is an industry trying to improve security and account protection, etc...

I asked same question, but still unable to get answers, I don't even click on any links again even if it's from a reliable source

I'm really sorry about this. Such events makes one to think of decentralisation as being too illusive. It makes one question the nature of Decentralised platforms.

Everywhere around Hive, just look deeper, it has turned into a network for porn, violence, and pedophilia is not far. Decentralisation means no policing so no one can be penalised.

Just take heart and try to secure your funds by transferring them out, to a more secure wallet. Centralised exchanges has been very reliable so far.

Your words are very clear! Thanks for the comment! In fact, this vulnerability and freedom make room for complex discussions about how far we are ready to deal with so much "immunity". Even though I've been on Hive for over a year, I ended up being a victim of something like this, and there's no solution for a situation like this. I don't really know how to act about it.
And about taking what I have left of my HP to protect it, that makes sense, but the question is: -Do I want to reset my account and give up this universe? I don't know, it doesn't seem ideal, in the same way I'm very afraid to power down now to be able to withdraw the Hive, because it seems that at any moment that bastard can come out of the shadows and transfer any profit I get, even if I have changed the password and supposedly it's safe... Anyway, for now I think I'll just wait, be patient.

Sad to hear this has happened to you. I would suggest you go to PeakD and check who you have given your Active key to, you need to be careful what you sign-up for and only ever use your posting key. Good luck and best wishes :-)

Thanks! I already changed my keys, but I confess that I still feel insecure. Let's see how the next moments of this journey will be!

The dexpartacus you mentioned is merely one of the many accounts that have lost funds to this wwefun thief, the same as you. I'm just glad we were able to secure your account again so that your staked HIVE (HP) is safe!

We may never know how wwefun gained access to your account. Accidentally pasting the Active Key into a Memo Field was just an initial guess of mine, but proved not to the cause in your case. Many people lose their accounts by clicking on suspicious links which place malware on their devices, using public WiFi (which is not secure) to login to Hive, logging-in every day with their Master Passwords, etc.

Thank you for blogging about your experience! Hopefully, it will serve as a warning to others to exercise caution with their accounts!

Thanks for the clarification about @dexpartacus! My mistake to place him as a participant, this was due to the heat of the moment and the irritation I felt and the lack of interpretation of account transactions. The hardest thing really right now is to build confidence that my account is safe, and I'll honestly participate more cautiously and less willingly. Insecurity is a very limiting factor. I hope this experience helps others to take care of themselves, really! And thanks again for everything!
