Today, watching a podcast by Ray Kurzweil on Joe Rogan I found myself thinking with a certain amazement about the exponential speed that advances in artificial intelligence are achieving. It's obvious that we didn't understand its probabilistic scope ten years ago, and again we're going to be wrong trying to guess what will become of the technological future in ten years, but given the experience and almost mathematical observation of this exponentiality, at least for Kurzweil who is a very assertive man, in a matter of five years we'll have reached the singularity. And that's just bizarre. In his vision, we could achieve something like "immortality" by using these intelligences to unravel all the things we don't yet understand about our bodies, our health, and so on.
It's obvious that until then we'll see all kinds of madness happening, and I have a certain affliction with this chaotic dichotomy that divides the universes (that of the people who are immersing themselves in this journey of technological evolution and that of the people who are being bombarded and barely able to feed themselves). I'm very optimistic about humanity's progress and although I completely disbelieve in moral values that are intrinsic and inherent to man, I think that the social sphere as a whole has made a lot of progress in terms of human homeostasis. Obviously, a lot would have to change before we could really overcome humanity's most serious problems. And today, more than ever, it's clear that at least 50% of the problem with the war we're seeing is religion. I don't know if one day I'll be lucky enough to see this improve, or in other words, to see religion become something obsolete and small, that doesn't distort human reason and doesn't interfere with its progress.
It seems almost surreal to me to imagine this scenario of extremes, of sharp and opposing polarities. In any case, I know that my reach in this great effervescence is almost nil, and I can content myself with having the privilege of at least knowing about it, observing it lucidly, participating in it even if almost in third person, satisfying myself with just the splashes. And in times of post-capitalism, the acceleration of human history and a post-modern reality that is shaking in intriguing chaos, I hope to do better than ever, so that I can have fun on this trip. It's all I've got, after all! :)

Hoje, assistindo um podcast do Ray Kurzweil no Joe Rogan eu me peguei pensando com certo assombro à respeito da velocidade exponencial que os avanços da inteligência artificial estão alcançando. É obvio que não compreendíamos o seu alcance probabilístico há dez anos atrás e novamente vamos errar ao tentar adivinhar o que será do futuro tecnológico em dez anos, mas dado a experiência e observação quase matemática dessa exponencialidade, ao menos para Kurzweil que é sim um homem de muito assertividade, em coisa de cinco anos já teremos alcançado a singularidade. E isso é simplesmente bizarro. Na visão dele, poderemos dali pra frente alcançar algo como a "imortalidade" através do uso dessas inteligências para desvendar todas as coisas ainda não compreendidas à respeito de nosso corpo, nossa saúde, e assim por diante.
É óbvio que até lá iremos ver todo tipo de loucura acontecendo, e eu tenho uma certa aflição dessa dicotomia caótica que divide os universos (o das pessoas que estão mergulhando nessa jornada de evolução tecnológica e o das pessoas que estão sendo bombardeadas e mal tem condições de se alimentar). Sou muito otimista a respeito do avanço da humanidade e ainda que completamente descrente de valores morais intrínsecos e inerentes ao homem, acho que a esfera social como um todo tem avançado muito em termos de homeostase humana. Obviamente seria necessário muita coisa mudar para de fato superarmos os problemas mais graves da humanidade. E hoje, mais do que nunca fica muito nítido que no mínimo, 50% do problema com a guerra que estamos vendo, é a religião. O fanatismo religioso parece que será um páreo constante na vida humana, não sei se um dia terei a sorte de ver isso melhorar, ou em outras palavras, de ver a religião tornar-se algo obsoleto e pequeno, que não deturpe a razão humana e não interfira no seu avanço.
Parece-me quase surreal imaginar esse cenário de extremos, de polaridades agudas e opostas. De qualquer forma sei que o meu alcance nessa grande efervescência toda é quase nulo, e eu posso me contentar em ter o privilégio de ao menos saber disso, observar isso lucidamente, participar ainda que quase em terceira pessoa, satisfazendo-me com os respingos apenas. E em tempos de pós capitalismo, de aceleração da história humana e da realidade pós moderna que sacode-se num caos intrigante, eu espero me sair melhor do que nunca, para poder me divertir nessa viagem. Ela é tudo que tenho, afinal! :)
