What Are Your Favourite Christmas Carols?

There are many reasons why we celebrate Christmas. For some people, it's the gifts, the food, the decorations and so on. For me, I have more than one reason —the chief being to honour the birth of Jesus….and Christmas carols!!!

To announce the arrival of the loveliest of seasons and spread the cheer, Christmas songs are the best. I love good music and enjoy singing. As early as November, I set myself and my family in the mood by filling my surroundings (home and office) with carols. It's either playing from my sound system, pc, phone or I am singing them out loud. Haha.

I have noticed that no other holiday inspires more songs than Christmas. I believe this is so because the news of Jesus' birth was announced by the angels with joyful songs of praise!

Also it is a celebratory season and when a group of people are happy, singing definitely accompanies such celebration. Have you noticed that almost every year, popular music artists release their own Christmas album which is basically freestyling most traditional Christmas songs?

Everywhere you go, from the supermarkets to offices, elevators, churches, even restrooms, you hear these songs, warming hearts and spreading cheer.

I love the traditional classic Christmas carols such as Joy To The World, Hark, The Herald Angels Sing, O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Ave Maria, While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks, etc. These ones are centuries old and are still being sung till tomorrow!

We have the contemporary songs which are popular such as Jingle Bells, Let It Snow, Frosty The Snowman, White Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock, etc.

There are also the slow, sedate ones that are soothing and can put a person to sleep such as Silent Night and Ave Maria. On the other hand, there are the fast paced songs that a person can dance to like 12 Days Of Christmas and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

I love all these songs but particularly love to sing O Holy Night.
