Teleogryllus emma, commonly known as the Emma field cricket, is a species of cricket in the family Gryllidae. This cricket is native to East Asia, including Japan, Korea, and parts of China, and can also be found in other regions due to accidental introduction.

Here are some key characteristics of Teleogryllus emma:

Appearance: They have a dark brown or black body with a sturdy build, measuring around 25–30 mm in length. Their hind legs are adapted for jumping.

Sound: Male Emma crickets are known for their loud, rhythmic chirping sounds, which they produce by rubbing their wings together. This chirping is primarily used to attract females.

Habitat: They typically inhabit fields, grasslands, and forest edges and are often active in warmer months, especially during late summer and early fall.

Diet: These crickets are omnivorous and feed on plants, organic debris, and sometimes small insects.

Teleogryllus emma has become a subject of interest in behavioral studies due to its communication patterns and mating behavior. It's also culturally significant in some regions, where the sound of their chirping is associated with seasonal changes and is appreciated as part of the natural soundscape.
