A CONCERT FOR HISTORY ENTRY: BEATLES NIGHTMARE IN MANILA

in #hive-1758363 years ago

I know its according to the rule that the concert should be something memorable and marked a timeline but The Beatles concert experience is the reason why the group start performing live in different countries. The different parties involved has their own acceptable reasons but I think its more of a miscommunication.

July 4, 1966 is the date when Beatles performed in the Philippines at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, A hundred thousand joined the concert where the band performed 10 of their songs in just 30 minutes. Then something happen in the backstage, when Nikki Ross(a part of wind Duo, which is one of the Filipino fronts in the concert to lengthen the program since the band only performed for 30 minutes) and The Beatle's manager Brian Epstein had an argument.

The reason for the argument is because the band's manager pushed Pilita Corrales in a way thats very unpleasant way. But even before that the band has been anxious about the fact that the philippine custom confiscated all of their bags for inspection when in fact it was in the agreement between their manager and the promoter that the diplomatic bags will not be checked. If your gonna think about it, there is nothing to be anxious about it not unless there is something that you are hiding. And yes they are hiding the fact that they are carrying Marihuana. But it was not inspected because they immediately put it in the car. George Harrison admitted in an interview that they are carrying Marihuana when they went to the Philippines.

The next day, there was a courtesy call in The Malacanang and the First Family and the other guests are waiting for the band when the Limousine that was suppose to carry the band to the palace was no where to be found. Imelda Marcos, the First Lady back then got angry. But the Four band members denied the fact that they know about the courtesy call.
The next day, it was all over the news paper that the band snubbed the president.

In defense, the band says that they are resting during that time and rest is important. Besides they dont want to attend any courtesy call anymore because of their experience back in 1964 at Washington DC. where they are attacked by fans with scissors attempting to cut some strands of hair from Ringo Starr.

The next day, July 5, 1966, its the day where the band is going out of the country. It is then that they experience the revenge of the palace when in the morning in their looking for breakfast in the manila hotel where they are currently in, no one is attending to them. When they went down the lobby, their is no people around even staffs are no where to be found so no one helped them in carrying their stuffs down the stairs together with their instruments and they were forced to grab a taxi to carry their things to airport. When they arrived at the airport, a lot of people are waiting for them. They were pushed, kicked and some spat at them. The Escalator was not off and they were forced to carry their stuff again. and this is the reason why they promised not to return to the Philippines because of their trauma.
