Karges' Capricio Septimi Toni is based on Sebastian Anton Scherer's Intonatios Tertia and Secunda Septimi Toni.
As with the Capricio in G the composition is almost identical to Scherer's original. Karges omits some of Scherer's embelishmemts while adding some of his own in other spots, but all in all he follows the source rather faithfully. As Karges combines a piece in a freestyle and a piece in a fugato style, he effectively again creates something in the style of a prelude and fugue.
Karges explicitly indicates some phrases to be played with the pedals. This suggests that the other phrases for the bass voice should be played with the left hand. In the score I follow these indications.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Hinsz organ in the Reformed church in the Midwolda (http://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/netherlands/midwolda-surround-sample-set.html).
