After running a marathon last Sunday I felt lost and to be honest I didn't know what to do with myself. After a conversation with @slobberchops, I told him I'm not going to run anymore,... I can't be bothered.
'And what are you going to do', he replied.
Well, I said I'm going to do a pilgrimage for a month in Spain. He answered.., you're not young anymore. Blimey! You won't have a wife for a month or I might not come back at all. He just rolled his eyes.. what a supporting husband he is!!
When Shaun picked me up I also said to him what I said to @slobberchops. His reply was different 'Your head needs a wobble' .
'I don't feel like running today', I said, 'maybe I'll just watch'.
He replied, 'it's up to you but I paid for it'
'I'll run.. I won't be competing'
Running, running, running when the rain is hard. I don't know why I started so far back but I just didn't feel like doing it.
The last mile was like a never-ending mile. Just half a mile to go and I got STITCH seriously . The girl running beside me named 'Melissa' said 'just keep going nearly there!!' I saw the finishing mat and I heard Shaun shout... FASTER.
I finished, and it was a relief to see familiar faces. Despite the bad time of 37 minutes (5 miles) I'm still happy and can't complain. We didn't want to hang around after because I was starving and wet. We went back after getting our jackets to get coffee.
Standing drinking coffee while watching all the winners collect their trophies I heard my name called …oh... I won 1st place for my V45 category. How embarrassing that was I didn't know what to do.
...'open the damn box!, it's inside'...
The Clayton and Trawden guys won't let me forget that I thought I only got a plain black box but I have to open it to reveal the trophy. Well, I didn't know... never won a thing before!
I’m a very simple person who loves eating and yes I do love nice things but I’m pretty happy with little things like my trainers.
I can’t thank Shaun enough for everything. Very grateful for all the help and advice I received.
