The other day I posted about getting back in to a routine of push-ups and sit-ups but the push-ups were struggling due to constant pain in the wrist.
This could have been down to bad form, perhaps combining with tennis or just getting old and physically fragile lol!
Speaking of physically fragile - side note from today, I slipped over on the tennis court earlier and landed heavily on my hip and had to retire the match - I'm going to have to walk around in bubble wrap soon!
Anyway, back to the push-ups.
As you can see from the image above (not of me), the wrist is bent at a horrendous angle and over time, if you're not doing push-ups right, you'll find out about it as I have!
Over Xmas, I ordered some push-up bars as I watched a video on how to overcome the wrist pain from push-ups, having tried changing the position of my arms, doing wrist exercises (get those dirty thoughts out your head right now 😆) and spreading the fingers out as wide as possible on the ground.
These weren't working so I tried doing push ups on my knuckles, which relieved the pain in my wrist but have you ever done push-ups on your knuckles? It really hurts your knuckles instead!
So came to the conclusion that push up bars would do the trick as the wrist position would be in a more neutral one.
Well, they arrived today and I have to say - WOW! What a difference this has made. Absolutely no wrist pain whatsoever now.
Granted, I only did a short session as I've lost a little bit of strength the last couple of weeks but these bad boys have sorted it right out!
I can't wait to use them more.
They are basically in the same shape as an iron with an elevated, slightly angular handle. Position them where you want to and go for it.
If anyone has suffered with wrist pain doing push-ups, get some push-up bars!
Here's a tune to help get you started in the work out!
