First of all, I’m so sorry if you missed this conference because it was the real deal.It was insightful and very entertaining as well. The leaders outdid themselves and gave us the best. The stage, the speakers, the sound, light in fact the venue( everything was just perfect).
There was a cultural dance ongoing when I arrived and then Mr Spencer Korankye gave a really beautiful introductory speech and the program started. The MCs then introduced the headmaster from Breman who mounted the podium and appreciated HiveGhana for the borehole created in their community as well as the support given to their community schools. (At this point I had sighted this handsome gentleman at the back so my attention was shifting and then @mcsamm mounted the podium).
The very first question he asked was what we do when we wake up. If we’re being honest with ourselves, we spend so much time on our phones right after waking up. He explained there’s actually nothing wrong with that but it becomes a problem when you spend so much time and money on your phone and get nothing in return. Your phone becomes a liability and we don’t want that. That is why Web3 is here so instead of doing all that we do on Web2 and gain nothing, why don’t we do that on Web3 and earn something.
(@depressedfuckup and I were giving hive couple goals but it’s sad he’s taken. Same as @yahuzah too.)
Another presentation that caught my attention was that of Mr Emmanuel Appiah. You know how people come on hive with high expectations of earning so much so fast? What if your expectations are not met? do you leave? Of course not that is why when you’re starting hive make sure you’re doing something you can do for free. So ask yourself, what can I do for free? That should be your content as a newbie so that on days you do not earn, you wouldn’t be in a rush to leave the blockchain.
There was a very interesting question and answer session with the panel. My favorite question was from a student who tried signing up on hive and was directed to a video on YouTube. According to her, if Hive is the new internet why then does it need Web2 platforms?
The answer to this question from Mcsamm was even more interesting. He also said that even DSTv needs traditional Tv stations to advertise them because those Tv stations started earlier so they have the audience and that’s exactly what Web3 is doing but not that they can’t stand alone without Web2.
They also showed us the 14 boreholes built by HiveGhana for communities. Then there were citations of honor given to the speakers which I think was really thoughtful. I had the opportunity to meet really amazing Ghanaian hivers @nattybongo, @rubilu, pandev @abu78, @epopag, @awuahbenjamin and awuradjoa. I also got to meet @mynewlife.
As I said earlier, it was really educative and I’m sure if I was not already on hive, I would have really felt like I was missing out. I have a surprise for you all who couldn’t attend so stay tuned.
