Have you ever woken up and felt you are pained but you have no idea where you are aching, because that pain isn't physical pain?
Or waiting patiently for night time to come so that you can sleep and forget your worries for a moment? If you've felt this way before, then you understand adulthood.

I sometimes reflect on the past to back when I was a kid and the carefree childhood brought. "mummy I'm hungry", "mom, my cloths are old", "Please I need this for school"please I need this for that".... I mean the list goes on nonstop. What I'm trying to say is that it was easier being a kid more than being an adult. The only headache a child has is simply being a child.

Adulthood means responsibility
It is not a place, but you'd certainly know you arrived into adulthood when you get there, and the first headache awaiting you is responsibility. Responsibility means having a duty to yourself and to others as well. Taking calculative decisions, being independent and any other explanation you can give it. And this is one of the hardest to deal with.

Financial management
As an adult another challenging episode is financial independence. Here on, you as an individual would have to work to make your own earnings, learn how to sustain it and manage it responsibly. In this regard, you cannot wait on others to bail you out even when it's not working for you. Especially when you get to the point where society is aware of your stance as an adult, would pull back, fold arms and watch you make your own living.
It is not a matter of choice is a matter of transitioning and there's no avoiding that.

There is always something to take care of at some point. You go to work, earn a living, take care of your self and others, and take charge of all bills.
Cases where your responsibility stretches beyond just yourself, it means your duties also adds up in multiple folds. Your rent would expand, provisions for the house would double, bills would escalate and every moment would be occupied with this or that.

Decision making. There's a thing about decision making that makes it extremely tricky. It's about making a choice out of multiple possibilities where your choice has to be one that would yield positive outcome. Mistakes sometimes crawl out on this side and it is up to you to master your craft well to make every choice worth the while.

At the end of the day, knowing that you would go to bed, close your eyes and forget about responsibilities for a moment is such delight...

Sort:

Adulthood brings a different kind of pain, one that's not physical but weighs heavily on the mind. Responsibilities like financial management and decision-making become constant companions. Yet, finding solace in moments of rest provides a brief escape from life's demands.

You've said it all.
