Life has both good and bad times, and I think it's when we experience both of these feelings that we really understand what life is all about. Throughout my life, I've had different experiences that have helped me understand life better. Some of these experiences are really special to me and I'll always remember them, while others are ones I wish hadn't happened. These are the kinds of experiences that I wouldn't want anyone else to go through, like losing someone you love, like my mother.
Losing my mother was really hard, and it took me a long time to feel better. But now, I want to share the happiest moments of my life with everyone. One of these moments was when I unexpectedly got nominated for the important title of the best midwife in my area. It was a big surprise when my in charge called me one day to tell me about the nomination. There were seven people nominated from our district, but only one would be chosen as the best nurse to represent our area at the national level.
I was really excited when I heard the news, but I also realized that it would be a very challenging task that would require a lot from me, even at the district level, not to mention the national level. However, I managed to go through all the interview process and ended up being one of the three candidates who were selected because we did well in the interview.
I was so happy that I made it to the top three and, finally, I emerged as the overall winner and the best nurse in the district. It felt like a dream had come true for me. I shared the good news with my husband and other family members, and they were all happy for me. The news had already spread at my workplace, and everyone was excited about it.
The doctors and nurses at my workplace were proud of the accomplishment, and it brought recognition to my outfit and district at the national level. At work, everyone started looking for me to congratulate me. I suddenly became the center of attention, and it was a great feeling that I've never experienced in my nursing career before.
To top it all off, there was a district-level event held to recognize the three best nurses in the area. I felt an immense sense of pride when I was called up in front of my colleagues to receive the award for being the top nurse in the district.
As a token of honor for my achievement, I was presented with a citation and a rice cooker. Before receiving the award, some senior staff members spoke about my hard work and significant contributions to our organization during the selection process. I had never been celebrated like this before, making it the most memorable day of my life.
Even though I didn't win on a national level, I am extremely proud of my accomplishments at the district level. It was not only a personal achievement but also brought recognition to our district throughout Ghana. When I reflect on that day, it will always hold a special place in my heart.
I would like to thank the #Hiveghana leaders for the opportunity to share about our stories and I hope it inspires others as others. Thank you for taking the time to read.
