Unemployment is a pervasive issue faced by nations worldwide. Governments globally have been actively seeking ways to combat rising unemployment rates. job creation has always been the primary solution, but governments cannot bear the sole responsibility for this task. Instead, they can empower their citizens to create more job opportunities.
In Ghana, successive governments have attempted various interventions to address the growing rate of unemployment in the country. Unfortunately, these efforts have proven to be less effective. Numerous programs have been implemented under the youth employment program, such as NABCO(Nation Builders Corps).
However, these intervention programs typically remain active only during the government's tenure and often come to an end once their term is over. In fact, there have been numerous youth employment initiatives in Ghana that I cannot recall. While these initiatives have engaged the youth, particularly graduates from tertiary institutions, they have not effectively resolved the issue of unemployment.
It has become evident to me that these initiatives are often pursued merely for political gain and have not represented the best approach to tackle youth unemployment. In this post, I aim to share my innovative solutions with the youth in Ghana and around the world.
Today, technology has become an invaluable tool that can enhance our lives in numerous ways. Virtually every aspect of our daily activities is intertwined with technology, making it an integral part of our existence. The opportunities presented by technology are vast, and it is crucial for the majority of Ghana's youth to recognize and leverage them to improve their lives.
One significant advantage of technology is the ability to generate passive income through social media platforms. Hive serves as an example, where numerous content creators produce and monetize their content on a daily basis. Platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and others provide avenues for individuals to utilize their talents or skills and receive rewards in return.
These platforms offer an excellent opportunity for young people who spend a significant amount of time online to generate a substantial income. Even if their dream job may not be readily available, they can establish themselves through their talents or skills well before attaining their desired career.
By exploring the opportunities that technology has provided, many unemployed youths can contribute significantly to reducing the issue of unemployment in their nation.
I would like to thank to Hiveghana leaders, specifically @mcsamm and @collinz, for giving me the opportunity to share my perspective on this matter.
