Memories!!!
Memories are one essential part of the human race, they are what makes us human, without them, our lives would be...., I don't even know what adjective to qualify the state our lives would be in. Memories are what keeps us going, they are evidence that we have a past and are looking up to a future.
2023 was one heck of a year, it had its ups and downs, but it was a good and exciting year for me, it was a year I got to heights that were previously just dreams, that seemed like they were somewhere in the future I had to strive to get to, but it all came around in 2023, and I'm indeed grateful to God and also to my family and friends. Here are some exceptional memories in 2023😃
I got a job that I enjoy a lot and that has helped me grow in so many ways, before I talk about how I got the job, let me give a background story, so you can appreciate where I am coming from, so get your popcorn Y’all and brace yourself🥰.
I finished my NYSC (National Youth Service Corp) in 2020, and I was very excited, to go out there and begin my life, but I never imagined that it was going to be a rollercoaster, getting a job was a challenge, I kept submitting applications, but wasn't getting hired, some times I wasn’t even called for an interview at some point I was almost frustrated, but I was hopeful.
After wating for so long I had to apply at a high school to teach, it wasn't so much of a passion, but I had to do it in order to earn a living. I kept pushing, I later registered as a mobile data (internet service) vendor, and started my journey of selling mobile data. I did all of these, but the proceeds were barely enough to get by, but I had to do something, during this period, I made sure to develop myself, took up some courses like data entry and the rest, read books and attended some seminars.
Then in 2023, it seemed like heaven began smiling on me, I first got a job in a bigger and better school in my city, this was in January, and by February, I got a call from a federal organization, that I had applied for earlier, that I should come for capturing to start a job as a Client Manager with a Certification body, my joy knew no bounds, I was excited.
I resumed in March 2023, and after some months of learning on the job, they began assigning more challenging tasks to me, at this point I had mixed feelings, I was glad that I was advancing, but I was also scared of making mistakes, but at that point, I began to understand that making mistakes were inevitable so I embraced the role and also made it a point of duty to always ask questions whenever I wasn't clear on anything and this really helped me a lot. I got trained in various courses that helped shape my career and I'm so grateful for this.
Another memory I can't forget in a hurry was my birthday in 2023, I wasn't at home for it because I had to move to another city because of my job. I didn't expect too much from that day. The plan was to treat me out after work, but my colleagues had something else planned, they took me out and we celebrated and had fun, I was really surprised with the show of love, the reason being that I just started the job, I was happy and grateful that they made my day.
Lastly, during the Christmas holidays, I had initially planned on going home and spending the holidays with themy family, but I couldn't because I was trying to sort out my accommodation. I had been staying with my cousins since I got here, but I needed to get my own place. The whole episode of getting an apartment wasn't a very pleasant one, but in the end, I got something befitting, and it was worth the whole stress. I remember the first day I moved in, I felt proud of myself for making it this far, I patted myself on the back and said 'Elfreda weldone'.
So these are some memories that stood out for me in 2023, some sweet, some not so sweet, but all part of the grand scheme and in all of this I made it!
