Thank God it's Friday, I said to myself, as I made an effort to round up what I was doing in the office. It was Friday the last day of the working week and I was so excited to get off work and have the much-desired rest that I craved for, the week had been a pretty long one, swarmed with work. My department had been restructured and we were trying to transition into this new structure, hence the busy week, weeks even.
I was finally able to clear my desk by the time it was closing hours. I was in high spirits and couldn’t wait to get home, have a much-needed relaxing shower, have dinner, and crawl into my bed.
My eyes had been itching me during the day, I just thought it was due to the long hours of staring at my computer screen, I tried so much not to rub it, even though it was itching me.
When I got home, I quickly tussled up something to eat and then quickly went to shower before returning back to eat my dinner of rice and stew, topped with plantain.
After having my dinner I decided to see a movie, pending when I fall asleep. So I got comfortable on the couch and chose a movie I had been longing to see, it was titled "Falling Inn Love" Yeah you can say that, I love, love. I watched it, cried where necessary, laughed, and smiled where necessary. By the time I finished the movie, the night was already far spent, and my eyes were still a bit itchy, I decided to retire to bed for the night, with the intention that by the time I woke up the next morning, it would feel better, you know like they say, "there's nothing like a good night rest", or so I thought.
I slept like a log, for 8 hours straight, well it was much needed after the crazy week I had had.
I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed mostly, I say mostly because most parts of my body did feel refreshed, except for my eyes, which felt a bit sore, and they kept tearing and felt tight, if I can use that word to describe them, like I couldn't entirely open them, I thought it was because I had just woken up.
So I decided to go check the mirror and to my greatest surprise, I was scared of the image that stared back at me, my eyes were red and swollen and almost closing. I panicked at first, but I was later able to stay calm and thought of what next to do.
I decided to go to the pharmacy after I was done with some chores, I managed to do some of the chores that had accumulated over the week, mentally reminding myself that I had to go to the pharmacy later on, to check out the problem with my eyes.
After I was done with the chores, I took a quick shower and headed to the pharmacy, I explained what was wrong with me, and the lady nurse on sit, asked a few questions like when it first started itching me and some other stuffs. Finally, she told me I had Conjunctivitis, which over here is popularly called Apollo, and that it was probably me reacting to a particular allergy or a minor bacteria infection, though I had suspected it, I didn't just want to come to that conclusion by myself.
She then prescribed an eye drop for me to apply in my eyes, to clear out the redness and the other symptoms that I was having. I paid for the prescription and went home.
It lasted for a few days before the symptoms totally disappeared. I was more than happy to have my eyes back to normal, I was also happy that it happened during the weekend and I didn't have to go anywhere.
So this was my experience with Apollo and response to the Hiveghana prompt.
