Hello hivers, it another new month and as ladies we are all aware that October is always indicated by a pink ribbon which signifies the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am glad the @hiveghana community added this to their prompt as a means for us to remind and enlighten the public on how early detection of breast cancer save lives.

Breast cancer awareness has been a popular thing for a while now, I remember a group of people came to sensitize us back then in secondary school like 10years ago on the steps involved to check if there are lumps in the breast. The good thing about this is to not only wait for every October before you can examine yourself but to do regular check up, to identify when there is a difference in the size, shape or Form, then you would notice it on time.

WHAT IS BREAST CANCER
From what I have read and seminars I have attended, breast cancer is simply a cancerous lump forming the breath cells, this is particularly common in women, not heard about it in men. It is so bad when it has gotten to a certain stage that requires cutting off the breast. This is why the awareness is common because it is one of the commonest cancer experienced by women.

SIGNS OF BREAST CANCER
There are several ways to detect an abnormality in the breast formation, but whatever the case may be when you notice such, consult a specialist immediately.

  • lump in the breast is the first thing to notice
  • One breast may look entirely different from the other. I said entirely because we are made to understand that both normal breast cannot exactly be the same naturally, its either one is a little larger than one or vice versa. But an obvious difference calls for concern
  • notice pain in your breast like sharp pain.
  • change in nipple or discharge
  • redness of skin
  • swelling etc.

HOW TO SELF EXAMINE YOURSELF
The best to self examine oneself for lumps in the breast can be by standing in front of a mirror or by lying down in order to get accurate results.

  • check out your breasts standing in front of a mirror and check out for anomalies, like difference, swellings, redness, change in nipple and so on.
  • you can lie down and work your fingers around the skin areas to check for lumps
  • you can also do it in the bathroom when saopy water is on you, it feels easier to detect
  • check for discharges by squeezing the nipple gently
  • raise your hands to check for lumps.

There is actually no need to panic even if you feel the slightest thing, it could just be a wrong generalizations. This is why it is not advisable to check your symptoms on Google and depend wholly on your findings. Rather, see a doctor at early detection so that the situation Caan be curtailed.

It's October, it's breast cancer awareness month, spread the word by using various social media platform to inform and educate women that health is wealth and early detection save lives.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I personally didn't know how dangerous this could be not until I was invented to join a group created by a friend for ladies to share like minded things and help each other grow. It's there I learned about "Breast Cancer" and was shocked. Your writing is brilliant and thanks for the tips.
