Compliment of the season to y'all.
The New Year is upon us and anyone that stepped into this year in good health already has reasons to be happy. Goodluck as you make moves towards making this year a delightful one for you.
In the spirit of the festive season, let's quickly explore one of the writing prompts from the @hive.ghana weekly writing prompt;
This week, we want you to share with us a bit of what goes on at those family gatherings during this festive season.
This is quite ironic become I didn't even reunite with my family for Christmas. I'm several hours away from them. Yet, there's barely a day that passes without me getting updates from them about the holiday celebration and how they are making the most out of it.
Just yesterday, I got off a call from one of my sisters. I also spoke with Mumcy, and each of them had a lot of tales to tell about the adventurous things they have been doing today.
I'm not even there. However, I know for sure that they are enjoying their stay. It was also obvious that each of my siblings are enjoying the opportunity they have to reconnect with our extended relatives after several years of not travelling to our hometown for Christmas and New Year Holiday.
What goes on during such family gatherings?
Firstly, there are always so many varieties of meals to eat and so many people to eat the meals. During holiday season of this nature, being in my hometown with my immediate and extended family usually means that so many people eat whatever is prepared.
Secondly, it's never a surprise to see some family members who you didn't know about before. It happens a lot when we all reunite during holiday seasons. I know my siblings who travelled to my hometown must have been introduced to more than a handful of family relatives who they didn't know about until this season. Haha.
Thirdly, the gists are endless and they can transition from a very serious discussion to a discussion about something weirdly comical in one sitting. It sure isn't a surprise because there's always so much to discuss and there's no better time to do that than when everyone is in the holiday spirit.
Those are just a few of the things you would see during family gatherings in holiday seasons. At least, that's how it is in my family.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
