Hello everyone snd welcome to my blog. Hope you all having great week. As we all know, the Christmas season it's drawing closer and many of us that getting ready for the big celebration in rememberance of the birth of Christ. Christmas holidays/ seasons is often the time where families, loved ones, relatives, and friends, meetup, spread love and fun. My family has always made it a tradition during this season to travel to our home town to visit for the Christmas holiday. From childhood, it has always been the same pattern. We would prepare to travel from 21st or 23rd or December. My dad's younger brother who normally drives us would inform us a night to when when we would leave so as to enable those prepared on time as he does not condole lateness.
As early as 5:00 a.m. we would begin preparation and at most 6:00 a.m. we would begin the journey. It takes about 4 to 5 hours to get to a home town though. I would say, traveling to the village to meet up with my other extended families like my grandparents, my cousins, aunts, uncles etc. is one of the most favourite part of the Christmas holiday but the troubles that come with traveling on the road is what i can't handle . I usually have car sickness, feeling nauseous all the time.
Nevertheless, spending time with family, visiting other relatives, cooking for guests, and many other activities are some of the highlights of the holiday season for me. It's strange how the Christmas season smells and feels different. The lovely sight of many Christmas decorations, the delightful music, the sound of various crackers, the affection, and the enjoyable activities all come together.
Another events I recall is that every Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve, we would go to church to pray and thank God in appreciation for everything. Also, on Christmas or New Year's morning, we would see kids or adults, but mostly teenagers, dressed up in masquerade costume with frightful masks on their faces and music playing.
They would go from house to house to display and dance and when they are done we would give them some money.
My younger brother is always scared to come out watch because of how scary their masks looks. Lol. Also, at night, while hanging out to fam, we would sit outside, play games, tell stories and sing .
It's alot of fun for real and I'm looking forward to having such experience again this year.
Until next time, do have a lovely day.
