Just like a friend of mine on this blockchain (@burlarj), when you look at any of his posts, there is an inscription that says "Come for the crypto, stay for the community". The first time I saw this while reading his post, I smiled because I could relate to that statement, of course, many of us can relate. Just like me, everyone who first signed up on this blockchain only had the mind of coming to earn; who doesn't want money? We all do and it is the first thing on our mind — to make money!
Hive is an amazing platform that I have come to resonate with, and make as my source of income which has provided a lot for me since my stay here. I had a different thought when I came here but as the journey kept moving, I got a shift in my thinking and decided to utilise this awesome opportunity I have been privileged to have. One thing about me is that once I am in for something, I would make sure I give it my best and it is one thing I never failed to tell people. Whatever you know how to do, do it awesomely well while hoping to be lucky someday.
Hive isn't that easy but it takes a lot of discipline to achieve whatever you want. Yes, I am already giving my advice to the newbies who'd just registered and those willing to do that in the future. I will pin this post down so that when more newbies join in and found their way to my blog, it would be easier to see and read. As I was saying, it takes discipline to get whatever you want. Discipline is like an edge to having a fulfilling journey in whatever one does. The first step to being disciplined when it comes to writing is to make up your mind and set your writing goals.
Some will agree that writing isn't easy. You know, trying to find ideas, finding the best niche, presenting a suitable and catchy topic or title and finalising it takes a huge time and effort. If you aren't careful or disciplined, you might have to go beyond the deadline or not even publish anything at all. I have been writing for 7 years now, I mean writing on different platforms and I have never missed a day publishing a post. Do you know why? I cultivated the habit of publishing every single day without missing any day.
Since I joined Hive, I never missed a day even when I never had an interest in this platform while focusing on other platforms. Guess what? I was on three different earning platforms before I finally focused on Hive only, a day never passed by without me posting. This is an act of discipline I gave myself right from the beginning of my writing journey and it has been like that.
There may be days you wouldn't feel like writing, but trust me, when you have the zeal and have made up your mind to inculcate the habit of discipline, you will find writing so easy even when on days you are down. Even when I was sick for days while receiving drips at the hospital, I was still writing. Whenever I want to travel, I prepare ahead because I know my nature. I get weak and tired when I travel which could make me miss posting and it is why I plan my schedule to avoid such.
Another piece of advice is to be intentional about your growth on Hive. I have seen a lot of users who are here to milk the rewards here, withdraw and leave without thinking of growing their accounts. Hive is a long-term project, and a lot of people are busy scoring themselves while checking their wallets including myself. At the beginning of this year, I had the intention to grow my Hive Power and most especially build my Hive Engine tokens. I am focusing and working on that and it is because I give my whole time on Hive, making it a job which I resume every morning and close at night, hoping for another great day. As a Newbie, once you are intentional about your growth here, you will grow within a space of time and you will be excited. Growth takes time and patience, hence you must keep showing up to achieve this.
Hive is not a "Get rich quick scheme". Don't think you will wake up one day and find millions of dollars in your account. You don't expect to make a post and expect a miracle to happen overnight. This platform is meant for people who are ready to sacrifice part of their time engaging and having a ground in different communities depending on your niche. Just like me, I didn't make friends the first day I stepped my feet on Hive. I engaged and found them and they keep showing up because I have always done the same. Don't publish your post and leave without putting effort to interact on the chain.
Another thing I would say is to understand how to use markdowns. Markdowns are what make your post readable and organised so that people would enjoy your content. Focus on making your post stand out and be interested to learn every day. There is a Newbie initiative I would implore you to join which helps all new users understand more about Hive and also help you navigate through this blockchain. You can read more about it in this post.
Finally, I would give this: Never give up. Just because you aren't earning as much as you want, you decide to give up and leave. No! You will only regret it later when you see Hive skyrocketing. There are a lot of users who have been here every single day for the past 2-4 years and they never gave up. I am already over 2 years on Hive and I didn't give up. It is because I held onto the principle that says: a little drop of water makes an ocean. Do you know what? I started just like you and these are what I did which I am still doing today:
- Engaging on posts from different communities.
- Joined different contests and challenges.
- Made friends from different channels on Discord.
- Appreciating the little I get on my posts each day.
Along the line, you will come to enjoy your stay on Hive when you follow this advice I have given to you, newbies. I hope your stay here rewards your efforts in the future. I wish you the best in your dealings on Hive.
