The Season and its Weather

I knew the harmattan was here some days ago when I noticed the grasses around my apartment had dried off. Thank God the rainy season has left even though I always enjoyed it when the rain pours down and I am indoors. The normal harmattan should be here by the end of November which then runs through March, the following year but this came on early.

It was easy to detect someone passing by while stepping on those grasses (my apartment is surrounded by bushes) and making that crunchy noise. Some weeks back, it wasn't so, even you won't know someone is passing by until you hear a voice or a knock on the door. Everywhere was so quiet then but now, it's November, known for a season like this.

Another thing I noticed is how my body quickly gets dried off once I take my bath. This is why I get to rush inside after taking my bath so, I get to rub my body with some oil cream while it is still wet than when my body has dried off making it harder for me to rub on my body because my hand gets hard while doing that.

Then, comes the dryness in my lips. I apply lip gloss every now and then. If I don't do that, I tend to use my spit to wet my lips when it's dried and that hurts when in the process, they are peeling. Since I love the Harmattan season, I still don't enjoy it because of all these effects on my body.

Harmattan comes with its cold weather and that is always my favourite season. Some weeks ago, we experienced heat and it was frustrating to me at some point. I would be indoors and still be sweating even when the windows are opened. But I get to enjoy every night because of the coolness of the time. Since my apartment is closer to the mountain with big rocks surrounding it, thanks to the big trees full of leaves, every night seems like they shouldn't end. I love the sound of the trees at night with the leaves swaying left, right and to the and most times very early in the morning.

So, how do I keep myself through this weather?

Well, since it's the harmattan season and I am someone who doesn't feel too cold, I put on soft clothes while indoors. I apply enough oil cream on my body and some lip gloss rubbed on my lips to keep me cool. Then I don't hesitate to use robb in my nose so I don't keep sneezing, and to avoid the inability to breathe normally.

At night, I sleep with just my nightwear but when the cold is getting too much and unbearable, I use my sweater to keep me warm. I don't need to bother about the day because right now, I am enjoying the fresh breeze sneaking into my room through the windows and letting my body feel safe. If you would notice, it is that moment you get lots of ideas running through your brain when there is the free flow of air going through it.

Lastly and something very important is to always drink water. Harmattan season is a time to make one thirsty every minute, making an individual dehydrated quickly. This is why I am always having my water on the table so I drink once my throat is dried. Water keeps one warm and hydrated, so, I do not let this pass by.

The night time isn't the same as the day time, the coolness ln the night time is great, much more when we have tree's beside us, heat isn't a thing we should like at all

I love the description of where you live, mountain side sounds lovely to me.

The Hartmatan has started here in Kaduna since last month; during this season, my leg and lips are the first victims. Because of this, currently, I do not joke with my socks and lip gloss.

As I'm typing this, the wind is seriously blowing outside; all my windows are shot to keep inside warm..and like you, I enjoy these cool weather conditions.

Oh yea, I love viewing the mountain from my apartment which is an upstairs building and appreciating the wonders of God's creation.

Yea. I love everywhere warm and cool. Hehehe. I have never wore socks to cover my legs during harmattan oo except perhaps I wanted to wear it on a sneaker. Aside that, count me out 😀 maybe I might come to embrace it when I travel out of the country where I experience the real weather there. Nigeria is only a warm up when it comes to cold weather like this. Haha 😄

If you are in the North during harmattan you might want to wear socks to save your legs from dust hehe.

For me I have dry skin during harmattan, the socks helps me a lot.

Well, you are right especially that dust part. Maybe because I haven't been around dust here except when covering my nose to avoid that.
