‘’Ghana our beloved country is free forever’’.- Kwame Nkrumah
This is one statement I’ll cherish for my whole life. This was said by the first president of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah after Ghana gained independence on the 6th of March 1957. Well, wondering why am telling you my favorite phase instead of the favorite thing I love about Ghana. Well, it all has something to do with it.
Ever since I was a child we’ve enjoyed peace in this country. We can all admit that there are times things should have and could have taken the wrong direction but the peaceful nature of Ghanaians makes bad situations into good ones.
When I was a kid JJ Rawlings was our president. Am not gonna come here and lie that I experienced his regime. I’ve only heard stories which were told to me by my mom. I was told about his time and how things were different in his time. But then one thing I’ve learned from all these stories is that even in those times we have enjoyed peace in this country.
Yes, we have ethnic tensions here and there but then unlike some countries, it never gets to a point where there’s serious tension that it escalates into a war.
What am trying to say here is that one thing I love about Ghana is that we are peaceful, apart from the known fact that Ghanaians are hospitable. I’ve not been outside Ghana before but then I can boast about how hospitable we are. Yes, I wanted to boast about how peaceful we are but then I’ll add the hospitality to it too.
This is an avenue for me to sell the good parts of the country so I’ll do it. Am one of the people who criticise this country so much so when it comes to the aspects I’ll try and do it as well.
Any foreigner who has been to Ghana before will testify that you don’t need to be a celebrity or even anything close to rich. We will cherish and take care of you. We will make sure that you have a very good time in our country which will make you wanna come back year after year. If you doubt that you can take a trip here for once and see how true it is.
I know you’ll enjoy the trip here. The peace around here will make you wanna come back for more. Apart from hospitality, we are also peaceful people as I’ve said over and over again. Yes, we do fight each other and we have crime rates souring each day but then we don’t have high security like the other countries do and still have very high crime rates in their country.
So yh, this is very the little I’ve got to say about my country. Not much but then it’s enough for me to love being in Ghana. I wouldn’t trade leaving Ghana for any other country at the moment.
