I started having a thing for books quite late. Well, I wouldn’t say it’s late since I was still little. If am correct I think it was around class 5. I never liked reading a lot. I was one of the guys who loved to play and my only escape route was watching television and playing.

Well, things started to change when I started reading story books. Then it was junior graphics I was very interested in reading. Junior graphics had just what I wanted and so it paved the way for me. Junior graphics as the name implies was the graphic for miners. The English were basic and simple. Unlike the main graphics. In the junior graphic, they had a story part. I started reading those stories little by little and then I fell in love with reading story books.

My type of storybook was novels. There is something about novels which I like so much. Apart from the fact that they have very good English, the storyline is very broad and as such you can feel a connection with the story, unlike the 10 pages of story books.

I don’t know if it’s only me but if you’ve noticed the English in those books is mostly the worse and as such it’s bad for kids to read it. I came across one of my favourite books when I was in class 5. It was a novel series. It was made up of 5 books. I’ve been able to read 3 of the 5 but I’ve not been able to find the 4th and 5th one.

The book is about a young girl who gains admission into senior high school and as such has to go through life whiles in SHS. In this novel, a normal shs girl’s life is depicted in a Ghanaian setting. The struggles she glows through academically, with her social life and also when she’s on vacation.

This novel was written by the renowned writer Laurence Dramani who has been a writer of such good books. Rather surprisingly those three novels were my first encounter with Lawrence and I immediately fell in love with his style of writing. The way he chose his words was a beautiful site and for someone like me who didn’t like reading novels, it was something else to fall in love with a novel series.

When I started with the first one which is titled first term surprises I almost gave up. I didn’t like the storyline as it was boring. It didn’t have a lot of action. The first edition was about a girl named Kukua who had gone to check her BECE results and was devasted after checking them. She was a bright student and as such she expected to clock all 1’s in the BECE. She didn’t get what she expected or should I say worked hard for and as such she was posted to her third-choice school.

This edition was just the basic stuff. As I read deeper into the books I wanted to go all in and as such it was a wonderful experience for me. As soon as I finished this one I made sure to look for the second edition which is titled second term expectations.

After familiarising and accepting her faith. She has to go all in and work harder to better the results this time. But life in senior high catches up with her. The second edition was what made me fall for this novel and as such I have loved the novel a lot.

After I was done I reached for the third edition titled entertainment night. Entertainment Night talks about Kukua’s experience with social life in SHS. This is the edition for the people who like to read about the juicy parts of SHS.

After the third edition, I couldn’t get my hands on the fourth edition titled Mid-semester Vacations. For this one, I don’t know why but it wasn’t in any bookstore that I searched and after months of agony I gave up on it.

Even though I didn’t get the chance to read the last edition I was still able to connect with the story in many ways. I guess one of the reasons was because I was in primary and for most of us SHS was a fantasy for us.

Either way, I’ll recommend the book to a lot of people. I think at that time it had a lot of fame in Senior high schools.

Lol man you've done well remember these. I read sooooo many of these books, but I can't remember a single one. I'm disappointed in the person I've become now, because I used to love reading a lot growing up. Now, I'm struggling to finish books I know the old me would've taken a week or so to finish. Well, maybe it's because the books now are bigger and don't have interesting pictures like they used to.

Now you have a phone and a laptop so it will be pretty hard to take your eyes off it.

Well, for me I think the big ones are the interesting ones with a lot of detail and I'll love reading them.

I think I’ve read a number of these books but I can’t remember a thing😂.
This summary makes me want to go back to those kinds of books but my slides are looking at me😂😂

I think I’ve read a number of these books but I can’t remember a thing😂.

It should be true cause if you had a sibling in SHS at that time then he or she will have brought one of these back home.

but my slides are looking at me😂

Oh leave those slides la. Read the thing hehe.

If I find it, I will

All these books sound interesting, can I get them online ??

Oh yes of course. All you need to do is search the title of the book and you will be taken to an online source.

Reminds me of those days when we used to read these books in junior high school, the cover of the page got me, these writers were good and kept our school days fun and interesting
