The Mind-body connection

in #hive-176874last year

Whatever affects our mind affects our body either directly or indirectly and vice versa. They seem to be connected and the brain does a good job by sending signals through the mind and body to help us know when things aren't going well. We already have daily routines that help our body stay healthy, but sometimes we neglect how important we need to invest into making the mind healthy too. We allow our mental health to suffer by taking in everything presented to it and soon suffer stress, depression and worse, a high blood pressure. The effect of stress and depression is often seen on the outside and this shows they're connected.

The things that affect the mind are things we see, think about too often or issues that bothers us or put fear in us and the world nowadays has a lot of bad things happening, the news carries sad and terrifying information, wars and rumors of war. The more we glue our faces on television the more our heart trembles. I once told a friend, "for your mental health, stay off news that doesn't promote peace and safety ". What we see and hear can affect our mind and take away our peace. I feel more calm and safe each time I'm offline compare to when I go online, the internet doesn't have good news for us to digest, they prefer to promote the bad ones to the good ones

One way I maintain a healthy mind is to stay off news that promotes violence and information that promotes fear. Secondly, I don't allow a lot of things to bother me- I think less and try to accept things the way they are, and I look less. Finally, for a productive mind, I try to read a lot of books that address several matters about life and faith. Sometimes, I engage in meditation
