The abortion saga

Abortion is a sensitive issue that has caused debates over time. When it comes to abortion, people are usually of two sides, the pro abortion side and the anti abortion side. The thing is, both sides have valid arguments. I'm someone who loves to look at both sides of an issue before taking a stand, so let's explore both sides.

Those who are in support of abortion (pro abortion) argue that women have the right to do with their body whatever they want. Sometimes, a woman gets pregnant, and she knows she isn't ready to have a child at that point in time.

It may be due to financial difficulties, or career, or maybe she's just not mentally and physically ready to take on the responsibility of carrying a child for 9 months, giving birth to the child and raise that child. It's obvious that once children get into the picture, people's lives change.

In such a situation where an unwanted pregnancy comes into the picture, some women consider abortion. Of course, there are reasons they could give for considering abortion. It could be that she is actively pursuing her career and is at a stage where getting pregnant and having kids would hinder her career progress or totally spoil things for her.

Furthermore, like I mentioned earlier, some women may feel they are not capable and ready to raise a child, so they consider abortion. People in support of abortion have often said, why give birth to a child you can't raise? In truth, I understand the argument. Not raising children right could result in those kids becoming a menace to themselves, their parents and even the society. This is usually the basis of crime in several countries.

Naturally, the argument that would come to mind is "why not use protection or other means to prevent pregnancy?". It baffles me how, in this day an age, some people fail to utilize pregnancy prevention strategies when they know they aren't ready for a child.

On the other hand, those who are against abortion have argued that life is precious, and that abortion is like taking a life. There have been better alternatives suggested. For example, a lady could carry the pregnancy and after giving birth, she could give the child up for adoption if she isn't ready to raise the kid. Abortion has resulted in detrimental and even fatal consequences to some ladies because they decided to go for it in places where it is illegal, forcing them to patronize quacks.

Now to my opinion. I think abortion is an extreme measure. The fact that some girls risk a lot, trying to do an abortion, while hiding it and endangering their lives makes it worse. However, there are situations where abortions are ideal.

For example, in cases where the pregnancy is a threat to the mother's life, an abortion is usually required, especially in the hands of a competent professional and I don't think anyone would have a problem with that. Apart from such a situation, people should seriously take precautions to avoid pregnancy. It's better to prevent a problem than to try and solve it when it has already happened.

I see abortion as taking someone's life, if you know you're not ready to have a child, use cds during intercourse or use contraceptives, doing this would not lead to future problems.

Abortion is very dangerous and every one knows about but most people turn deaf ears to it

If you know you don’t have the money to finance another person’s life then don’t go doing things that will bring another person into this world

Exactly 💯
