The Role of Good Work Ethic in Enhancing Workplace Productivity

Good work ethics are essential for the progress and productivity of a workspace because they're core values and attributes that, when possessed by staff, help foster a results-oriented environment around the office. A good work ethic, in my opinion, literally insinuates professionalism, because someone said to have a good work ethic would be known to be proactive, committed to improvement, accountable, responsible, trustworthy, and the like, to mention but a few.

I for one am a staff member at an organization, and I know that one thing that can help us get the desired result is to give a good work ethic to myself and my colleague. Unfortunately, while we do clamor for this, it's a shame that only a few people have these attributes in reality, and this kind of brings about setbacks to the organization ultimately, which of course we know is bad for business and the organization at large.

Putting myself on a scale to measure if I've got a good work ethic at my current place of work, in all honesty I'll say over 100; I'm probably between 70 and 75 percent, and that doesn't mean I don't have a good work ethic, but then I'll explain while I rate myself below a hundred, and then you can be the judge thereafter, so without further ado, let's get to it.

You see, I'm a teacher, and my primary assignment as a teacher is to teach; that's to impact the students with knowledge of my course, making sure they understand and could relate to everything, and in this regard, if I were to rate myself over 100, I'd rate myself 98% because I know in that aspect I've got a good and diligent work ethic that's driven by the passion to teach and impact knowledge.

But then I rated myself two percent low because I'm open to improvement and getting better at performing my duties efficiently in that aspect. Aside from my primary duty as a teacher, secondary duties include teaming up with other teachers and management to push the school to be among the best in performance and the like.

Now in this aspect, I'll give myself a 50 percent, and that's because I tend to not thrive in such activities that are related to teamwork, and it's not like I don't love working with a team; it's just that the environment of my workplace is so polluted with things I don't want to get involved in. Take, for instance, making the school be recognized as one of the best; you'll see teachers being assigned by management to do all sorts of things like helping students during external exams or enhancing students performance.

All of these are deemed important to paint the school in a good light, and this doesn't sit well with me, and so as not to get involved in all of these, I've aired my opinion not being allowed to do such by my faith and as well won't allow such to happen under my watch, and after several attempts to get me into doing that without a success, now they tend to not bother me with such duties, and since it's almost everyone that's involved in this, if anyone from aside were to ask about my work ethic, I'm certain they won't be giving any positive remark about me.

But personally for me, I seriously don't care, because even when I was painted because I failed to join in those things, my work ethic in class vindicated me when students were during their exams given a compression to write about their favorite teacher; about 35% of the students I teach ended up writing about me, which I believe is a good thing given the fact that we were over 30 teachers in the school.

But then a good work ethic is essential, and if I were to be in a place where the right energy exists, I'm sure I'd certainly blend in to indulge in teamwork alongside my primary assignment of teachers.
