Having received some gifts in my life, it wouldn’t be easy to choose a favorite but naturally, there are a few I hold closer to my heart than others. I try to appreciate all the gifts the same way but some due to situations just feel a lot more personal than others.
The most recent gift I was given was from my best friend on my birthday and I loved them. She knows I do not make a big deal out of my birthday but she still got me some things that made my day when I saw them. But sorry bestie, that wasn’t my favorite gift from you. She gifted me a bracelet some years back and that is my favorite gift from her.

I do not like to wear a lot of ornaments or jewelry but one thing I do like is bracelets. I’m not sure I have mentioned that to her before or maybe I did and I cannot remember but she gave me this bracelet and I just liked it since. I won’t write too much about these gifts she gave me because I don’t want her head to grow bigger than it already is hehe.
This next gift I hold dear to me was given to me years ago when I was either 14 or 15. It might sound weird to some of you but my dad got me a hoodie from one his travels and it instantly became my favorite. And, no, the hoodie itself is not the gift I want to talk about.

So, after school on one Friday, a very good friend of mine asked for my hoodie because she was feeling cold. And you know how good we boys feel when someone you like more than others wears a piece of your clothing. I gave my hoodie to her without thinking twice and she promised to return it during the weekend.
We stayed in the same area and we basically hanged a lot of the time. I knew she had something up her sleeve but it certainly wasn’t what I was expecting. On Sunday when my brother, friends and I went to study at our usual place, she dropped by and I went out to meet her. She had my hoodie in her hand neatly folded and said, “Yahuza, I have something to tell you”.
Fast forward she gave me the hoodie which you could tell she bathed in her perfume to smell like her. I turned the hoodie and saw that she had painted a heart on the side pocket and you can’t even begin to imagine how your boy felt. She knew me and so she knew exactly what to do after giving it to me and that made it even more special.
The gift was special and I carried it with me for a long time. Though, the paint has almost faded from the hoodie, when I look at it, I still see the heart. Writing this made me remember I haven’t seen this hoodie so I’ll have to find it amongst my clothes. Wish me luck frens.
