The room was suffocatingly silent, filled with tension and pain. She stood motionless in front of him, her gaze fixed on his pleading eyes.
-I know that if I let you go, it will be forever,’ he said in a broken voice, ’I know myself well enough to know that I will never come looking for you, and if you come to me, I will not welcome you either.
She nodded slowly, swallowing hard. They were both aware that they were at a point of no return, a crucial moment that would determine the rest of their lives.
-That is why you must stay now, -he continued, holding out his trembling hand to her,- If, even knowing this, you leave... then there is nothing more to say, it will be goodbye forever.
The silence became unbearable as she weighed her options. She could stay and hold on to what they had, or leave and risk losing everything forever. The decision was hers and hers alone.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she stepped forward and took his hand. Their eyes met, conveying to each other all that words could not express.
In that instant, he knew she would stay, that they would fight together to save their relationship. It wouldn't be easy, but it was worth a try before giving up forever.
With a sigh of relief, he pulled her to him and wrapped her in a tight embrace, swearing silently that he would never let anything separate them again. Because losing her would be like losing a part of himself, and that was something he simply couldn't afford.
