Good morning to the people of the HIVE
Today I am going to talk about Agriculture and how the constant use of various insecticides and herbicides has been a leading cause of Cancer in our society and I will start by talking about a Herbicide named Glyphosate which has been extensively banned in several countries due to the harshness of this Herbicide.
Glyphosate is a type of systematic Herbicide which takes around a week to act but it kills the weeds from the inside out which means it is more toxic to the plants than normal Herbicides and because of its long investation period it also stays in most plants and in the soil itself.
But now for the very first time we have found Glyphosate resistant Weeds in the UK and that is really worrisome for a couple of reasons, firstly glyphosate is already a highly toxic chemical which was being banned anyways but now that there is a new Glyphosate resistant weed in town chemical companies would have to create a brand new technical which should be more harmful than Glyphosate to keep in check the new breed of weeds.
Even though this Weed is currently only found in the UK it is definitely something concerning that there is a Weed that your best Weedicide can’t take care of.
In my opinion if we are to live a long and healthy life we should really start using milder chemicals rather than the harsh ones and try to control pests and weeds with some other measures as I am pretty sure we are capable enough to discover something like that in the near future.
