The new Lion King clarified the story; no one ever wondered why Scar was evil and why he killed his brother Mufasa, but everything was explained in Mufasa the Lion King.
His real name was Taka, he was cute and loving as a cub, he saved Mufasa who got lost in the flood, and loved him as a brother, they had a great childhood together but clearly, they were not blood brothers.
Taka's father did not wholeheartedly accept Mufasa because he believed he was going to betray Taka and take his throne but he has no choice but to bear his existence in his pride with the rule that Mufasa will stay with the lioness.
He learned to hunt which is unlike Lions, they are meant to sleep and protect the pride but since he was not fully accepted, he hunted with the lioness and learned more tricks from Taka's mother which later helped him to become a king
Why did Taka a sweet soul change and become a betrayal?

Mufasa and Taka ran away from home when their pride was outnumbered by bigger lions, on their journey they met Nala a lioness whose pride was also hunted by the bigger lions, Taka fell in love with Nala but Nala was in love with Mufasa.
Taka told Mufasa to help him win the heart of Nala and Mufasa tried his best and gave him tips even though he was also in love with Nala, he chose his brother over love but the love didn't work out between Taka and Nala, The heart wants what it wants and Nala's heart chose Mufasa, Taka's heart was broken which lead to the betrayal, he lead the enemies to their new home but in the end, he saved Mufasa again.
The other animals want him banished but Mufasa is against it, he made it clear his brother would have a home there as long as he is still king but he would never call his name again nor would he see him as a brother, hence Taka told him to call him Scar and that was how the name Scar was gotten.
The movie is interesting, it has always been as I remember how I always repeat it on channel Tv back then, the lion's king made my child hood beautiful and I know others can say the same thing.
