Hello Splinter nerds
This week's Splinterlands battle mage secret is Even Stevens
A rule set in only even mana monsters can be used, this makes the available monsters smaller because all the odd mana monsters are ruled out.
I had a 3 combo ruleset which made things more interesting, the other two rules were:
Reverse Speed: I used to say Splinterlands is all about speed but this rule changes that because the monsters with the lowest speed attack first so players need to come with low-speed monsters.
Explosive Weaponry: This rule is all about blast!, all the monsters have the blast ability which is one of the abilities I dreaded and also the reason why Yodin Zaku was among the most used summoners, but there is always a way to counter the blast which I will explain below.*
This battle is different from the other battles you have been seeing, it is a high mana battle cap of 55 so we have the chance to use big monsters but one needs to be careful and strategize well.
Based on the 3 rule set, Both of us will be using more magic monsters because of the even Stevens, we have more magic monsters with even mana, to protect my monsters from Blast. I need to use a monster with a reflection shield
in the second position to shield the blast and for the reverse speed, low-speed monsters all the way.
My formation
Grimbardun Smith has earned his respect as the best and the most used tank in the modern league, being an even mana monster is a bonus for me in this ruleset as I know the opponent would be coming with magic monsters and Smith has just what it takes to protect himself which is the void
ability. The opponent also came with Runi
and one range monster but Smith's repair ability protected him.
I used Runi in the second position to protect my rear monsters from the blast rule, it worked great as Runi took all the hits until Smith was eliminated after some rounds of the battle, the opponent also used Runi, which we think alike to protect our rear monsters.
The Rage was placed in the third position, I needed it for its high magic power and Weapon training ability to give part of its magic to Lurking Puffer
, even though the opponent came with Immortalis summoner that weakens the damage done by my magic monsters, the rage was still able to eliminate the opponent Runi the first time.
The battle won't favor me without the use of a silence to help silence the opponent's magic, Lurking Puffer seems to be the best option as it is a 2 mana card with poison and silence ability, it has Rage magic and also got snakeye range which gives it double power.
The Berix Snakeye is another weapon training monster I used, it has the oppress
ability, unfortunately, the opponent didn't use Smith as expected but it still did great as it gives Puffer part of his range.*
Goblin Psychic was the last monster on my team, he is the healer and hence need to witness the end of the battle cos the heal is very important, it also has silence ability which further weakens the opponent's magic power.
