There is only one week left until the municipal elections here in Brazil. For those who like this time, they are very eager to know who the next mayors and councilors of each city in the country will be. Now for those like me who hate this election period, I can't wait for this all to end.
I know how important these elections are, but the way everything is done, I can say it's a real circus. The level of candidates is getting worse and worse and the population in some cases is showing their discontent by electing people who have no political history and range from professional players to clowns/comedians.
Despite the importance of elections, the chaos that ensues after voting day is easily noticed by the dirt left by people. Pamphlets, banners, posters... Everything becomes trash and the streets become a dangerous place to walk, as there have been cases where people have been injured by slipping on sidewalks and streets in this situation.
These elections this year are important because depending on the number of people elected in each region, we will have a strong base for the presidential elections in 2026. I believe that many of you know how President Lula's government is going, I don't think I need to say how terrible it is and even leaders from other countries have already realized his political positioning in some situations
I don't want to go into depth about the current government, but for those who don't know, the PT, which is the president's political party, was accused like Lula in several corruption scandals. Yes, I believe you must be thinking about how he came back to power, but in addition to part of the population being naive because they believed in empty promises, the PT had "help" from the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
Today it is very difficult to see Lula on the streets because without any type of escort, he would undoubtedly be highly harassed by the population, he is a political leader elected by the people and the majority of the people themselves currently do not want to see him around.
Interestingly, candidates from his left-wing party rarely have Lula around in their campaigns because they know that the president is currently unpopular and they know that their candidacies would be threatened. Even the colors are different so as not to be related to Lula and PT.
The Good Old Tactic of Bread and Circuses
Well, in most cases in Brazil, the "Bread and Circus" culture is very expressive. At this time of year, politicians do everything they can to keep their electorate manipulated and based on the level of voters we still have today, this type of strategy is still quite effective. Shows, food and money are some ways to guarantee votes and voters accustomed to this type of "benefit" surrender to a politician who will control them again for the next 4 years.
I grew up accustomed to seeing this type of thing around me and I can tell you, dear reader, that in our minds, this may seem like something "normal" and even common because of how many times it happens. Fortunately, over the years I was able to get out of that bubble and realize how much the state limits and enslaves us.
It is true that through the internet, the way political campaigns have changed a lot. Right-wing candidates have stood out with the different ways of advertising on the internet, such as shorts, for example, because as we know, the internet is the perfect place for decentralized and distributed information and traditional media has no space for manipulate any information whatsoever.

I have no idea what really happens in other countries, but here in Brazil, every election period there are fights and murders, which in some cases are even mysterious deaths. Interestingly, the vast majority, so I don't generalize, are victims of right-wing candidates.
Recently in a debate for the mayor of São Paulo, the main city in the country, one of the candidates got so excited that he gave his political opponent a "chair". Tempers are increasingly rising and there are people who are clearly not qualified to be there. If you can't control yourself with attacks coming from all sides, then politics is not for you.
Concluding
Not long to go, this period will finally end and we will only have new elections in 2026. I hope that the best representatives can actually be elected, but unfortunately we know that it won't be that way. At least on the streets we will have more cleanliness and less chaos with people waving flags and handing out leaflets.

Faltam apenas uma semana para as eleições municipais aqui no Brasil. Para quem gosta dessa época está muito ansioso para saber quem serão os próximos prefeitos e vereadores de cada cidade no país. Agora para aqueles assim como eu que detestam esse período eleitoral, não vejo a hora de tudo isso terminar.
Sei da importância que tem dessas eleições, mas a forma como tudo é feito, posso dizer que é um verdadeiro circo. O nível de candidatos está piorando cada vez mais e a população em alguns casos está demonstrando o seu descontentamento elegendo pessoas que não tinham nenhum histórico político e vão desde jogadores profissionais a palhaços/comediantes.
Apesar da importância que existe nas eleições, o caos que se instala após o dia da votação é facilmente percebia pela sujeira deixada pelas pessoas. Panfletos, faixas, cartazes... Tudo se torna lixo e as ruas se tornam um lugar perigoso para andar, pois já aconteceu de casos onde pessoas se machucaram ao escorregar por calçadas e ruas nesta situação.
Essas eleições deste ano são importantes pois dependendo da quantidade de eleitos mas regiões, teremos uma base forte para as eleições presidenciais em 2026. Acredito que muitos de vocês sabem como está sendo o governo do presidente Lula, acho que eu não preciso dizer o quanto que está terrível e até líderes de outros países já perceberam o seu posicionamento político em algumas situações
Não quero me aprofundar sobre o governo atual, mas para quem não sabe, o PT que é o partido político do presidente, foi acusado assim como o Lula em vários escândalos de corrupção. Sim, acredito que você deve estar pensando em como ele voltou ao poder, mas além de uma parte da população ser ingênua por acreditar em promessas vazias, o PT teve "ajuda" do STF (Supremo Tribunal Federal).
Hoje é bem difícil ver Lula nas ruas pois sem nenhum tipo de escolta, ele sem dúvidas estaria sendo bastante hostilizado pela população, ele é um líder político eleito pelo povo que o próprio povo em sua maioria atualmente não deseja vê-lo por perto.
Curiosamente, candidatos do seu partido de esquerda raramente estão tendo Lula por perto em suas campanhas porque sabem que o presidente hoje não tem popularidade e sabem que suas candidaturas estariam ameaçadas. Até as cores são diferentes para justamente não estarem relacionadas ao Lula e ao PT.
O Bom e Velha Tática do Pão e Circo
Bem, na maioria dos casos no Brasil, a cultura do "Pão e Circo" são bem expressivas. Nessa época do ano, os políticos fazem de tudo para manter seu eleitorado manipulado e baseado no nível do eleitor que temos ainda atualmente, esse tipo de estratégia ainda é bastante eficaz. Shows, comida e dinheiro são algumas formas de garantir votos e o eleitor acostumado por esse tipo de "benefício" se rende a um político que o controlará novamente pelos próximos 4 anos.
Cresci acostumado em ver esse tipo de coisa ao meu redor e posso dizer a você querido leitor que em nossa mente, isso pode parecer algo "normal" e até comum pelo tanto de vezes que isso acontece. Felizmente ao longo dos anos eu pude sair dessa bolha e perceber o quanto o estado nos limita e nos escraviza.
É verdade que através da internet, o modo como as campanhas políticas mudaram muito. Candidatos voltados na direita tem se destacado com as diferentes formas de fazer sua propaganda pela internet como shorts por exemplo, pois como sabemos, a internet é o lugar perfeito para a informação descentralizada e distribuída e a mídia tradicional não tem espaço para manipular qualquer informação que seja.
Violência Só Aumenta
Não faço ideia do que realmente acontece em outros países, mas aqui no Brasil, em todo período eleitoral existem brigas e assassinatos que em alguns casos, são até mortes misteriosas. Curiosamente, a grande maioria para eu não generalizar, as vítimas são de candidatos da direita.
Recentemente em um debate para a prefeitura de São Paulo, a principal cidade do país, um dos candidatos se exaltou tanto que deu uma "cadeirada" em seu adversário político. Os ânimos estão cada vez mais se exaltando e existem pessoas que claramente não são capacitadas para estarem lá. Se você não consegue se controlar com ataques que vêm de todos os lados, então a política não é para você.
Concluindo
Falta pouco, finalmente esse período irá encerrar e teremos novas eleições apenas em 2026. Torço que os melhores representantes possam de fato serem eleitos, mas infelizmente sabemos que não será tão desse jeito. Pelo menos nas ruas teremos mais limpeza e menos caos de pessoas balançando bandeiras e entregando panfletos.
