I guess my second name has a lot to do with the way I receive gifts because sometimes I can’t even remember some of them because they are so much. It took me some good thinking to remember a particular gift that I have received that had a great impact on me besides the host of others. While growing up, I was that girl that even when some things mattered so much to her peers, that particular thing just seem to be the last thing I’m trying to get. It was so bad at some point that some people thought of me as a guy, lol.
The truth is, not that I never really wanted these things in the first place, I just got used to the fact that I can’t always get what I want out of life. I intentionally taught myself to let go of some wants so as to avoid comparison and that helped me to start living a more happier life. Things that seemed like a big problem for others, once it gets to my turn it’s as if the reverse is the case.
So yeah, I received so many gifts right from when I was a baby and I think that was part of the reasons my parents named me God’s gift but in my native language. Like I mentioned earlier, I have received a lot of gifts that have been so impactful to me but for the sake of this post, I’d just focus on one of the most recent blessings of a gift I’ve received. If I can remember very well, the latest most memorable and impactful gift I’ve received was a phone.
Interestingly, from all the phones I’ve used since I was 14 years old till date, my current phone is the only phone I used my own hard earned money to purchase, the rest have happened to me by chance! But this particular one was a bit different and unexpected. It was about 1 years ago when I was at my other family house assisting my sister who gave birth. That day, I was so busy with a lot of things since I was the only one who was available to help out as daddy and mummy are already getting old and my sister was weak due to some after delivery issues.
That particular day, the eldest daughter came home to see her sister and her baby because she would be traveling soon. I did my best to finish up everything that was needed for me to do so I’d be able to meet up making a post for that day. When I was done, I picked up my phone only to realize the network was at its worst! And time was already running out, at this point I was a bit worried because nothing seemed to be working. My big sister noticed that my countenance was not good so she asked me what was wrong and then I told her.
She immediately gave me her other phone as she recently got a new phone before traveling back home. She said I could use it to make my post and return it back when I was done. I appreciated her a lot ann even though the network still didn’t work, the fact that she tried to help encouraged me to continue trying. I was finally able to make my post for that day at a very late hour. The next day, she went out early even before I woke up and later in the afternoon she called me to ask if her SIM card was still activated on the phone and when I checked it wasn’t.
I told her and she said okay and ended the call. When she got back home that day, she asked me to factory reset the phone and then the phone was all mine. I could remember how excited I was that day. For a long time, that phone helped me a lot in staying active on hive and every other platform I needed to be. She giving me that phone to me was the last thing I was expecting because I had a phone then and she knew I did. Thanks to that gift, I was able to continue making my videos on hive since I had stopped due to my bad camera quality and audio quality.
This is my entry to the #neoxianprompt for this week.
