Hive continues to amaze me. It's not the tech of a blockchain that matters; it's the strength of the community. You can have the best tech in the world but if no one uses it, does it really add value?
This brings me to my main point; Hive’s community is strong. Being a strong community does not mean you are the biggest, richest, or most cohesive; it means you coexist and look for mutually beneficial exchanges. This is very much in contrast to communities that primarily engage in zero-sum interactions.
If an interaction is mutually beneficial we both gain something of equal value and the trade benefits not just us but the next person we trade with and so on. In a positive place, filled with good people, just one mutually beneficial transaction can have a positive and perpetual benefit to the entire ecosystem.
In contrast, in zero-sum interactions 1 person gains value and the other person loses that value. An interaction being zero-sum is not inherently negative; it just means there is no positive benefit to pass on. That being said, don’t open yourself up to being taken advantage of; try to understand if someone is engaging with you in a zero-sum way or a mutually beneficial way then pursue the latter.
It is important to realize that Hive and blockchains more generally are essentially mini economies. If you want to be a member of an economy that thrives, then you need to coexist in a positive way with that community. This does not mean you need to be perfect, that you should expect perfection from others; or that you need to agree with everyone. Try to be friendly with others; but, be prepared to listen and agree to disagree.
During my travels of the wonderful world of Hive, I have made many friends and continue to be amazed by its diversity of thought. Even if not all my Hive friends agree with each other, I have a deep appreciation for each and every one of them and want them to coexist on Hive; we all benefit if they coexist in a positive way. We each have a role to play in the world and for most of us that role is dynamic, you need to pivot and be your best self based on the situation you are in today.
While exploring Hive I have had the pleasure of learning about The City of Neoxian. The City of Neoxian is an amazing and unique place; their discord server is also one of the best Discord’s I have had the pleasure of joining. Big props to everyone involved and to the founder Mr. Dragon on helping keep it going strong.
As I emersed myself in wonderful City of Neoxian, I came across another great thing which is Neoxian’s Minetest server. As they say in The City, Minetest is Minebest. I am fairly new to Minetest and have had limited exposure to games like it. I didn’t realize how much I was missing out. The game seems simple but the more you play the more there is to explore and create. Also, Minetest is open source so it will always have more cool updates for us to enjoy.
While playing Minetest I have enjoyed building my house, exploring unknown areas, and fighting PvP in the arena!
