The old greenhouse was in gloom, the exotic plants barely illuminated by the faint moonlight filtering through the foggy glass.
Yet in the gloomy atmosphere, one flower stood out with its captivating beauty, drawing covetous glances from the nocturnal visitors.
One by one, suitors approached, praising its intoxicating perfume and delicate petals.
But none saw beyond its superficial appearance, blind to the true essence hidden behind the delicate wrapping.
With sweet but empty words, they offered promises of eternal love, when in reality they only sought to satiate their fleeting lust. ‘How good you look,’ they whispered, completely unaware of the spirit that dwelled within that flower.
Until one night, a different visitor crossed the threshold of the greenhouse. His eyes did not stray to the most striking flower, but gazed respectfully at each plant, appreciating its unique inner beauty.
Slowly, he approached the coveted flower and, instead of superficial praise, murmured in a soft voice: ‘How well you look, beautiful creature. Your inner light shines with incomparable strength’.
The flower, surprised, shuddered at these sincere words that seemed to pierce its corolla and reach the depths of its being. At last, someone saw her as she really was, beyond her mere physical appearance.
At that moment, an imperceptible whisper ran through the greenhouse, as if the other plants were celebrating the fact that, at last, one of the suitors had discovered the true meaning of love.
