Feeling burned out is a state of feeling exhausted and it stretches from just the body to our mind causing mental stress that can make us unproductive in different angles of our lives. A lot of people find themselves in this state including myself, it happens mostly when I have been through too much stress that I can't handle either physically or mentally. Sometimes, we fall into the state of feeling burned out slowly because of piled-up pressure or stress which we left unattended to.
It happens a lot of times to me and that's the point I start struggling with almost everything, including things that shouldn't even be an issue for me.
The nature of my job at the moment gives me a lot of time during the week but my weekends are always jam-packed and this causes me to feel exhausted at the beginning of every week. I always thought that my body would get used to the stress but it doesn't and the outcome is always the same for me at the beginning of every week.
Starting the week feeling like that is definitely not a good thing and over the weeks, I have tried different ways of helping myself get out of this state just to make sure that my weeks and not just weekends are always productive.
I take a break from any activity to rest
The need for rest is very important and we don't replace rest with anything in the world. There is no alternative for it and that's why many of us place so much importance on it. After working throughout the weekend, I prefer to rest on Monday and sacrificing one day to regain my strength physically and mentally is a lot more reasonable than forcing myself to stay active throughout the week.
Many people in Nigeria still believe that Monday determines what the rest of the week would look like and this has caused my family and friends to call me lazy for sleeping on Monday but it doesn't affect me since I know how important it is for me to relax on Monday's.
I don't bother myself about anything and just make myself comfortable throughout the day. I eat, watch movies and just relax my head to ease the effect of exhaustion. Most times, I don't need to repeat this process on Tuesday because one day is usually enough for me most times to get over the feeling but there are times when it takes longer time for me to recover completely.
Whenever it takes more days than usual, I move from staying indoors for outdoor fun. Taking a stroll, hanging out with friends and sometimes, swimming help me a lot. Until I can get myself back together, I try not to put myself under pressure by engaging in strenuous activities that can worsen my situation.
Taking time to rest is very important and we can save ourselves from a lot of things by taking breaks to rest when our body demands it. I think it's better to always take the rest than allow our body to forcefully put us down because recovering takes a longer duration when that happens.
