Hi everyone
It remains available to me as I take the bull by the horn and name yourself just how you like it.
Here is what I mean our life is ours, and we are the sole responsible party" if this is true, our names are our identity and they should be counted for something.
Growing up I use to ask myself why my parents didn't give me an English name, most times I'll sit and wonder why? Often when people ask about my name and I'll tell them Tarila, they'll be like what's your English name, then an innocent me will reply I don't have an English name.
Even as a child I see my friends having two to three names, a native name and an English name, found in a situation like that when I get back from school, I'll ask my mum what's my English name and she'll be like sister grace, at that point you'll see butterflies in my stomach, so I felt sister grace was my English name very funny though😁
So when I get back to school I'll tell my friends that my English name is sister grace, what I didn't notice was if they were laughing at me behind my back or not.
Then I was childish I've come to realize that I don't need an English name, having just one name is perfect enough for me because my parents will always give me a perfect name.
A person's name is their identity, it represents you, when people picture us, our names whisper through their minds. It is one of the first things we identify and understand about ourselves so I've decided to love my name. Not just because my parents named me that but because it is who I am, my name is my identity.
We should hear our names, interpret their meaning, and love them for ourselves.
And if you haven't fallen in love with your name, I think it's the right time to do so now, all you have to do is to love your name and let it identify you.
And don't forget to respect other people's names and do well to call them what they wished to be called.
Thank you for reading
Cheers🌹
