Learn from the Best Players

It's been quite some time that I've been hovering between Diamond I and Champion III, struggling to rank up. In recent Splinterlands seasons, I've spent at least half of my time in Diamond. I always try to learn from my opponents to create new strategies, rent new cards, and refine my gameplay to achieve a better Win Rate.

I haven't felt much personal improvement, so I need to find other ways to gain this knowledge. Fortunately, there's the Top Battles tab next to the Battle Log, where you can watch the matches of the highest-rated players in each league. This can be a game-changer for observing the most-used cards, compositions, and strategies.

The goal of my gameplay style is optimization, aiming for the best cost-benefit balance between daily expenses and Win Rate/rewards. Thus, when analyzing other players' battles, I look for patterns in which cards with a low rental cost are frequently present in victories. Taking Diamond matches as an example, after reviewing numerous recent battles, I noticed that Moxian Rebel appears in many games alongside Daigendark Surveyor and Grimbardun Smith.

The main "Power Spikes" (specific levels where a card becomes significantly stronger due to gaining an ability or stat boost) for the Rebel are levels 4 and 7. Since my collection focuses on level 6 rare cards, I decided to rent it at level 4. Using the BID feature on Peakmonsters, I managed to rent it for 2.1 DEC/day . Unfortunately, the rental has already been canceled, and I only have a few hours left to use it.

I also managed to rent a level 5 Gold Foil Daigendark, which was an excellent find and will perfectly complement the Weapons Training strategies observed in Top Battles. Now, I'm only missing Grimbardun, which, surprisingly, I rarely see in my matches. However, it’s undoubtedly an incredible card to have, especially at level 5, so I've already placed a new BID and will wait to see if luck smiles upon me.

If I manage to rent all three cards, I'll test this combo in a few matches and then share the results with you. I'll also continue seeking insights into high Win Rate cards to add to my Splinterlands collection while considering canceling rentals of expensive cards that don’t yield good results. This is a constant analysis, but this refinement will undoubtedly bear fruit in the long run.

I always enjoy reading your articles to learn about your rental strategies. This makes a lot of sense, and I haven't really ever made rental bids, I just squat on good wild cards at the start of each season.

Since I rent consistently (unlike some players who rent for 2 days, let it expire, and then rent again), it’s definitely worth placing BIDs to get prices well below the market average.

My rental strategy is to find the best price near the beginning of the season and try to keep the card for the whole season either at the price I had it last season or the new market low price.

All three combo will be deadly. The Grim in an all magic Ruleset will surely shine especially with weapon's training.

I hope I can rent Grim soon!
