Life in the Heatwave

The heat is starting to get into my nerves. When the rest of the country has experienced rain and heavy rain storms, I am stuck in this excess heat and humidity. Picture this : you’re simply sitting in your room but the sun penetrates into the room, making it feels like you’re a baked cookie dough—leave it for another five minutes, and you’re done for. It is hard to get anything done during the day especially when you rely on your brain more than your muscle. So, I’ve been staying up late more than I should and have switched some things up in my life. That being said, my body needs more adjustment and it sucks to have to rearrange everything.

On another note, my whole life these days revolves around the 90 days challenge I’m doing. It involves working out and studying ( you can’t exercise and study in extreme heat). So, considering the temperature, it’s best to do these things in the evening which means my sleep time has been a little altered. And as you might experience, once your sleep schedule is altered, your whole life changes too.

This schedule change greatly impacted my exercise time. In the past, I would do a morning workout routine but have changed it to evening working out. There’s certainly an upside to working out in the evenings but that causes me to go to bed much later than usual and comes with its own consequences.

I can’t seem to find a consistent rhythm lately. The lack of sleep, a whack sleep schedule and battling this relentless heat has me feeling drained. It’s fairly frustrating as the environment isn’t cooperating. I feel like I am just barely getting by but I told myself that maybe it’s because I am new here and haven't adjusted to the environment yet.

I can’t fathom how others in the house don’t feel the same way I do. Maybe they’re used to it or simply because downstairs is less hot than upstairs. But certainly, I have difficulty concentrating, and just feel burnt out from the weather. Unfortunately, this will last until November and that is still a few more weeks to go. So, I guess, I just have to sit through this weather and survive.

Sort:

Downstairs is never less hotter than upstairs m
They're probably used to it, or just dying and baking more quietly that you think😂😂😂

Exercising and studying huh...
Sounds fun and like something that'll work for me....

I do need to study, I want to exercise...

Let's see...

hahaha for sure! It's really hard surviving in this kind of heat. It took a while to get routine going but when it's really hard to start at first. So, good luck!

Hmm schedules can be boring, but they give us rewards that are very interesting...

Yep it can be boring for sure but there's reward to it all.

Isn't it something where its too dry in one place and too wet in the other. It's really too bad they both can't meet and solve each other. Here we are dry and it's much hottier than it is usually this time of year. A 360 when we had flooding here at the begging of the year.

Now I have always said I would rather be in the extreme cold instead of heat. You can always layer up clothes in the cold but with the heat it all ends with that last layer of clothing. It's hard too do anything when it's too hot, hope the weather patterns change soon there. So you can get back to your normal routines.

hahaha yeah! I would rather have cold and wear more clothing than this heat. It's really hard to think and do anything. So, for me I am surviving by switching my sleep schedule. It's not optimal but that's the cheapest option I have right now. I have like 3 fans inside my room but they all blow hot air haha

Oh no I hope the weather cools down there. Blowing hot air is no good. Have to create a swamp fan, haha. But ice will melt to fast 😔

Hi Mac! around here we finally started the rainy season, I swear I was about to die, the last temperature was almost 40 degrees celsius, I was really sweltering because the humidity makes everything feel worse, so you don't know when I understand you.

I have always preferred to exercise at night because I like the quietness of the night, although at my house I don't have a lot of equipment and it's not as effective.

Don't push yourself so much Mac, the heat can become very oppressive and leave us without energy to do what we want, always stay hydrated, keep your windows open and buy a good fan, maybe these are good days for you to work in coffee shops or places like that outside where they have good ventilation or air conditioners.

Little by little ok, I missed reading you Mac. 💕🫂
