LEARNING FROM THE SCRATCH.

Being a teacher is something I'd not stop loving. For someone who has the passion to help others learn something new, I'm always excited when I am to teach and each time, I enjoy the excitement on the faces of my students.

I took up private home lessons as a part of my activities. I work online in the mornings and by 3.pm, I hurry to teach my students. I go to three different houses. So, by 3 pm to 4 pm, I teach the first student in their house, then I spend an hour or more with the others as well.

It has kept me engaged, and also helped me continue with my passion.

Some days ago, a parent called me while I was going for my private lessons. She explained to me that her boy couldn't read and she needed a private tutor for him. He is in secondary school and she was really concerned.

We concluded on the fee and agreed to start the following week.

The day I started, I asked him to read a passage from his textbook but it turns out that he could hardly pronounce a three lettered words. It was that bad!

For me, I already knew what next I should do to help him. Not knowing how to read in this age isn't something that one should hear of.

As one who studied English and Phonetics even while I was still single, I didn't see it as an hardwork, teaching him.

So, I told him to write down the 26 alphabets in his notebook. I know he was shocked. To him, he might have felt he didn't need it. I explained to him.

We started with the lettee sounds and gradually, started blending the sounds together to form a word. We started with two letter words like 'A+T=AT.

The next day, I added other consonant sounds and vowel sounds, too. I gave him a short reading exercise and he did well. I encouraged him to keep it on.

Yesterday, I taught him the 'Magical E'.

The magical e worked well for him. When he found it hard to pronounce a word, he would just blend the sounds together and viola! He gets the right pronunciation.

He performed really well today. He can read simple words, unlike before.

As a teacher, I am always excited when I see my students thriving. It gives me a sense of fulfillment.

I'm looking forward to more improvement from him.

Thank you for reading through.

This stuff took my mind back...
I can't even remember how I got to know how to read. I just picked it from school thing.

You did well by coaching the child.

Aww.

Thank you for stopping by.

You're welcome ma

I couldn’t stop saying God bless you when I realized how many times you teach and how many people you teach. Wow! You’re actually blessed to be having such a gift….yes I call teaching a gift because not everyone has it.

Teaching is really a gift. If one doesn't have it, the person will not find it easy.

Thank you for your prayers and Amen to them.

Thank you for stopping by.❤️

You’re welcome

This is such pure joy. It took me back to the days I taught my younger brother to read exactly the same at just five years old. It is such a joyful noise.

Yes, it's really joyful when you see them pick up things that was hard for them in the beginning.

Thank you for stopping by.

As a professional teacher that you are, it wouldn't be much of a struggle to help the child read and write and yes I like how busy you get every day, it helps you remain active both online and offline.

Keep up the good work!!

It's a fellow dreemer saying have a blessed day today. I popped in from Dreemport, I am always an awesome #dreemerforlife.

Yes, it wouldn't really be much of a struggle.

Keeping myself busy makes me more active. I don't know how to sit at a spot. 😂

Thank you for your kind words, #dreemer

You're welcome.

Foundation class is a major element in ensuring student catch up with basic things they need to learn including pronunciation but in this present Era when education has now become a cut and sow job, everyone feels they are qualified to teach. The consequences of it is what the boy is experiencing, I'm just glad he has someone like you to put him through and cover the lapses.

It's really important but, these days, most teachers are after their salaries. Also, most times, there's no chance for a teacher to teach the boy one-on-one seeing that he may be one who needs extra attention.

I'm glad I'm able to help him out. Thank you for your kind words. Thank you for stopping by.
