I love fruits because, aside from having a lot of good benefits for the body, they all taste so good that anyone who eats them will really enjoy it. Well, maybe it also depends on the fruit and/or the people who will eat it. And for me, sometimes, I view having fruits as a luxury. Because y'all know how expensive some fruits are. There are fruits there that we can't have every day because they're really expensive. But either way, I enjoy eating fruits, and I will gladly eat them if ever someone treats me with it, ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ.
Anyway, there are fruits out there that I haven't tasted yet in my entire existence. Yeah, not just breads, sweets, or desserts, but even fruits, and, oh, drinks too, specifically alcohol. It's sad that I can't even explore other cuisines, fruits or even alcohol but, that's just how it is ಥ‿ಥ.
So, Mommy D went to Calapan City for her eye checkup. If you don't know yet, Mommy D had a lens implant last year in December, and there's a lot she's not allowed to do yet after that. And she also had to have four checkups after that surgery. Last Monday was the last checkup, and they got home late that day. But she didn't go directly to our house because her sister's house is much closer, she opted to just stay there and sleep there for the night.
Then the next day, she finally went home, and she had a lot of fruits with her. She bought a lot, and I was surprised because Mommy D is not the type to buy a lot, especially after spending more money before. But well, she also needs some vitamins, so maybe that's why she decided to buy these, lol.
So these are the fruits she brought home, apples, oranges, grapes, and longan - the ones that I haven't tried before. I saw this fruit in the market before, and even though I am curious and want to taste it, I just don't have the courage to really try it. Because, you know, some people may like it, but some people may not like it either. And I might be included on the latter, lol.
But before we proceed with the longan, let me express my appreciation for these grapes first. Just look at how good it is. When I taste how sweet it is, I just want to eat it nonstop. And the crunch whenever I bite it - whoa, it is really fresh. I am not exaggerating it, but it is really a good grape. Till now, I can still remember the crunchiness in every bite of it. Even though I can just devour it wholly, I still want to bite it because of its crunchiness. Is it just me who does this? Lol.
As for the orange, it's a little bit sour, but when you dip it in salt, it becomes sweeter. I also enjoy that one, just like the apples, which have the same crunchiness as the grapes. I also dip this in salt to enhance its sweetness and taste. I'm not sure, but every fruit, when you dip it in salt, has a really enhanced taste. By the way, anyone here who has already tried it dipped in salt and chili? I feel like it will taste yummy too, with a kick of spiciness.
Now, let's talk about longan fruit. And as I've said, even though I already saw this fruit in our market, I still can't convince myself to buy it. I'm afraid that I won't like it, and I might regret buying it. But then, I had the chance to try this now, thanks to Mommy D. I'm really excited to eat it, to be honest. I am actually looking forward to it, and I am also expecting that it will taste good.
So, the moment of truth, it has really thin skin on it, as you can see. It is smaller, but the fruit itself is similar I think to a Rambutan fruit. If you are not familiar with Rambutan, you can just CLICK ME. I think they really look similar. What do you say, fellow Pilipinos? Do they look the same or not? Just the fruits without their skin. Both have jelly-like flesh, and both are crystal-like in color.
So first bite, hmmm, I am savoring it, and the texture is really like Rambutan too, that I know. The difference is that this one is sweeter, and when it comes to its flesh, you can scrape it easily, as i unlike rambutan. It tasted sweet, too sweet I think, and on my second bite, that's when I finally accepted that I would never like the fruits. Sorry to those who love this fruit, but there is something about it that I don't like. If I have to choose between this and Rambutan, I will pick Rambutan in a flash.
By the way, this is the longan seed. It's all black, unlike Rambutan. And I got curious if the longan seed could be eaten, and to my surprise, you can eat it. But the extract alone, or by making it into a powder, according to Google, has a lot of benefits too, including being anti-inflammatory, treating bleeding, and more. But consuming a lot of this can be bad too. So it's still better to do some research before trying it. But anyway, that's a surprise, at least I learned something about Longan seeds.
And sadly, this is one of the fruits that I might never try again. But my oldies like it, and I'm sure this is not the last time that I will see them in the house. How about you? Have you ever tried Longan fruits before? If yes, you can also share what you think about that fruit. Feel free to comment (☞^o^) ☞.
