Throughout my adult life I have shared many leisure activities with my mom, apart from traveling, going on vacations, we have agreed to exercise together some seasons, especially long walks, and I also convinced her about three years ago to climb the hill we have nearby.

Yesterday, Friday and last day of January, I wanted to do something different, and I told her to go up the mountain with me in the afternoon, she had always gone very early in the morning and she had not visited it for about a year. At first she was a little hesitant, but then she accepted my invitation.
Ayer, viernes y último día de enero, quería hacer algo diferente, y le dije que subiera conmigo a la montaña por la tarde, ella siempre había ido muy temprano en la mañana y además ya tenía como un año sin visitarla. Al principio dudó un poco, pero luego aceptó mi invitación.
My mom is a very active person, she likes to exercise, and I think since she was born and raised in a mountainous town, she has a physical aptitude for this. I love hiking, and I think I inherited my strength for this activity from her 😄.
Mi mamá es una persona muy activa, le gusta ejercitarse, y creo que como nació y creció en un pueblo montañoso, tiene aptitud física para esto. Yo amo el senderismo, y creo que mi fortaleza para esta actividad la heredé de ella 😄.
The first part of the ascent is on a paved road, and when you reach the first peak, where there is a monument, you can see the little dirt roads that lead to the other peaks, valleys, etc.
La primera parte del ascenso transcurre por una vía pavimentada, y al llegar a la primera cima, donde hay un monumento, puedes ver los caminitos de tierra que te llevan a los otros picos, valles, etc.
Since we started climbing early, by 5:00 in the afternoon we had already arrived here. My idea was that we would keep going up, since my mom didn't know the rest, at first she said we were going to be caught in the night, but I replied that it wasn't far, and reminded her that there was something up there that she should see.

I succeeded and we continued our ascent, the views are becoming more and more beautiful, and the sky was clear.

When we arrived at the top of Morro 1, as they call this place, I showed my mom the papaya I planted there in May last year during a reforestation day. That papaya was given to me by her, she loves to plant, she had put some seeds in a pot and it was successful. She was happy to see it 😊, it has grown quite a bit.
Al llegar a la cima del Morro 1, así le dicen a este lugar, le mostré a mi mamá la mata de lechoza (papaya) que sembré allí en mayo del año pasado durante una jornada de reforestación. Esa mata de lechoza me la dio ella, le encanta sembrar, había puesto unas semillas en un matero y tuvo éxito. Se puso feliz al verla 😊, ha crecido bastante.
We sat for a few minutes on the wooden bench there, and of course, we took in the scenery. Although it is summer here in Venezuela, which means drought, there is some greenery.

There weren't many people around, most of them start going up later, after 5:30 pm. My mom wanted to stay at this point, but I told her that since she had made it this far, she couldn't miss what was a little further up. She's not a pushover, but I think she really liked what she was seeing, and that's why she agreed.
No había mucha gente por aquí, la mayoría empieza a subir más tarde, después de las 5:30 pm. Mi mamá se quería quedar en este punto, pero le dije que ya que había llegado hasta aquí, no podía perderse lo que había un poquito más arriba. Ella no es una persona fácil de convencer, pero creo que le gustó mucho lo que estaba viendo, y por eso aceptó.
In a few minutes we reached the next peak, Morro 2, a place with tremendous panoramic views. The sun was already going down and it felt very nice, and she told me that next time we should come with food, to have a picnic hehehe.
En unos pocos minutos llegamos a la siguiente cima, el Morro 2, un lugar con tremendas vistas panorámicas. Ya el sol estaba bajando y se sentía muy agradable, y ella me dijo que la próxima vez debíamos venir con comida, a hacer un picnic jejeje.
Many plants have been planted on this peak and there are also benches and tables to sit and relax watching the scenery. Recently there was a fire around here and some plants were lost, but people have been bringing in more.
En este pico se han sembrado muchas plantas y también hay bancos y mesas para sentarse y relajarse viendo el paisaje. Hace poco hubo un incendio por aquí y se perdieron algunas plantas, pero la gente ha ido trayendo más.
Before we left, my mom took a walk around the plants, most of them are identified with a wooden sign. She was thrilled to come across the soursop tree because she had never seen one, and of course, I took her picture with it 😃.
Antes de irnos, mi mamá dio una vuelta por las plantas, la mayoría de ellas están identificadas con un cartel de madera. Se emocionó al toparse con el árbol de guanábana porque nunca había visto uno, y claro, le tomé su foto con él 😃.
Then we started the descent, it was not yet 6:00 pm, at that time a lot of people were coming up, it was good to go up earlier. And so we spent our afternoon hiking with beautiful scenery and fresh air, I think my mom will want to come back more often and go even further 😉 🍃.
Luego emprendimos la bajada, aún no eran las 6:00 pm, a esa hora venía subiendo mucha gente, fue bueno subir más temprano. Y así la pasamos en nuestra tarde de senderismo con bellos paisajes y aire puro, creo que mi mamá querrá volver más seguido e ir aún más lejos 😉 🍃.
