Bye to the old and welcome to the new. It's a new year! Happy New Year to you. It was a long run with the previous year. Not to forget the struggles, challenges, laughter, tears, sadness, joy, the gains and the pains, the achievements and the failures, all and all but to count but a few. Yet, it is a new day today, not just a new day though but a new month, and not just a new month too but a new year. Welcome to 2025!

2024 had its share of satisfaction and dissatisfaction, pain and gain, fulfilled and unfulfilled desires; the good and bad in a summary all poured on me. It was a year I will count as a "light year". Why? It seemed so swift and fast that before I could say “skadoosh” we were in December and already peeping into the next January. A lot of lessons were learnt that made me better and more careful with life I consider. And so, here we are in 2025. Glory!
The new year always starts with this cross over service and this year was not an exception. After spending the last day of the month putting one or two things in order for the new year and the celebration, I found the time for the cross over service nearly approaching. I had yet a few things to do like designing the new year flier. It was around 7PM I got a loose from the whole activities of the day so I had to find a way to make this design before the cross over service which was by 10PM. I was supposed to have the design ready though before that day but for some reasons I kept postponing it. And here I was. So I did my best and yeah, I had something done by that 10PM (past 10 at least).

So around 10:30 PM I was in church. The choir was already leading the congregation in high praise session as many moved their bodies to the rhythm of the wonderful and melodious music. Catching up with the moment, I tried to settle down and then join in the praise session already going on. After several minutes of dancing and singing in joyful spirit for the hope of seeing the next year, we received words of admonishment from the reverend. He went ahead to speak of what it means to cross over into the next year, highlighting what our heart positions should be like. This he addressed the congregation, instructing that we all ensure we do not enter the new year casually but purposefully. He then made prophetic declarations over us concerning our stepping into the new year and our voyage in it. One part about this that really interested me was when he asked each one to locate their family members present and hold hands together so they can pray together and cross over together. And so it happened. Along the prophetic declarations, the clock ticked 12AM, January 1st 2025. A loud roar from the congregation filled the air. The congregation was in high jubilation for seeing the new year. Some minutes after that, the closing admonishment was given, then closing prayers and we left for our homes - well, that's for some, because many especially the young ones did not go home straight but went around to continue the celebration.
After all was done and retiring home, I had a good short night or morning sleep you could say - chuckles. By morning we had our morning devotion, the word was administered to us and then I later prepared for church. At church, we had wonderful praise and worship sessions and then the word was preached. The topic was "The Heart of Man" in which the reverend explored through the scriptures on the deceptive nature of a man's heart and its consequences to those who trust in themselves or others.
Service was fine
It was a wonderful service. I went home straight after that, led myself to a little good treat and then stayed at home for the day. Yeah, I didn't go anywhere this day. Maybe it was because I had someone visiting me. Well, that was it. Boring too? I will change this year if you think so - haha!
