Pheeww! So it's less than two days to the end of this month, wow. Well, not just this month though, but also to the end of the year. It was undeniably a busy, hectic stressful year, for most - at least in my part of this world. I guess many would not have seen themselves making it thus far. But yeah, we all made it, and for me it is something to be grateful to God for. Counting the days from day 1 to this particular one, day 364 - oops sorry it's a leap year, so day 365, it's been a journey I must say.
At this point of the year one thing I am certain of is a lot of retrospection from people; many sit to analyse, consider, count, label and what have you concerning what happened through the year. We find some regrets, some joy, some acceptance, some pains, some luxuries, some comforts, some disappointments, some failures and the list goes on. Yes, that's what a time like this calls for in our minds. While we look forward to a better year, this passing one nonetheless will need to be assessed. So I find myself reminiscing if indeed I have achieved those things I desired for, those ones I hoped for, those ones I dreamt of and the so many others.
Funny enough was when the year was winding up some few days earlier and it's like I try to become that super super hero that will suddenly achieve those things I had not been able to. Haha. What could one be thinking though. Maybe some sort of flash I would be, or a Thor without a hammer, or maybe with Iron man's technology I could still work it out, or no maybe Batman's sophisticated and advanced science could do this all. Well that was not the original thought but would have been you know, haha. We might have though it in such manner, but maybe not the super hero direction, yet the desire to just acquire time to clinch that result might feel overwhelming. I think many have this retrospect.
I consider better though that instead of focusing on what I could not achieve, how about I put the little and the maybe large progress I have made in view to see what it means and how far I have gone. It might not be the height we wanted to jump to but a certain leap achieved is something enough to consider. Our retrospect should go beyond where we wanted to be, but also to where we are from where we were. Maybe then revisit those new year resolutions you wrote, check which and which has been achieved, which and which have not been and then let that give us a guide how to go into the coming year. And undeniably there might be things not recorded in that book or notepad you wrote the resolutions but they were achieved, how about celebrating those ones too, huh?
How I'm looking at the coming year
Well, it's less than 48 hours to a new year and it is only good enough that one enters with a positive mind rather than a derailed one, how about that? It will help foster I believe, the zeal and stimulate the energy to do more and better this coming year. So I thought how about I use these last hours of this year to assess this year for me and then see how I will venture into and in the coming one.
