HEALTHY PRACTICE THAT PROMOTE 
    PERSONAL HYGIENE.

  Personal hygiene can be termed as an activity or a form of routine practice that is aimed at maintaining the cleanliness of the body and the immediate environment; it is also any form of attempt to prevent or keep the body free from dirt and contamination.
In simple way; personal hygiene is the act of dedicating your self to cleanliness. It is indeed personal because it’s your own self obligation which no one can do it for you. Our consciousness in maintaining the cleanliness of the body is a vital prerequisite to a healthy living.
Why the need for personal hygiene? Why do I need to take care of myself? And how can I do it? What part of my body should I pay more attention to? How often do I need to do it?. These are many but few questions I keep asking myself the moment is saw this topic. That is why I seem it fit to share my thought and also share some basic simple tips I do which are very effective in promoting personal hygiene.
From my elementary school of health and technology, I was able to know that the human body is a sophisticated and technical machine that operate as a single entity but consist of several cells and organs-system that work inter-dependably to ensure the survival and existence of human. For all these organs to function effectively, we need to take care of them. For example the teeth that bit and chew the food we eat need to kept clean to prevent decay, the eyes that enable us to see, needs to be washed with clean water, and the ear which permit dictation of sound also need to be routinely wash and remove waxy discharged.



 FORMS OF PERSONAL HYGIENE.

Forms of personal hygiene are the various ways in which we take care of each parts of our body using different techniques.

1.HAND WASHING: is a form of hygienic practice by typical application of water and soap on the palm of the hand to wash off dirt. It is usually done before and after eating food, after visiting the toilet and anytime you do something that left dirt or stain on the hand.

2.BATHING: this is a form of personal hygiene where by a person in completely or submerge in water, or application of water to the body surface from a bucket with the use of a bathing cup,or any other water source, which is accompany with soap, sponge, hair brush and bathing stone.
Make sure the water quantity is enough because some people bath with just few drops of water which is entirely not enough for the whole process. Use a good sizable sponge; some people use a very small size sponge which hardly reaches their backside while bathing.

A long sponge will allowed you wash the back side of your body very well.
Use bathing stone to smoothen the sole of your feet to prevent crack and breakage of the soles. Wash the armpit very well to clear off sweats and germs.
As for the females avoid the use of antiseptic to wash the vagina, to prevent washing away of vaginal normal flora.
Bathing should be done at least three times in a day.

      ORAL CARE:
 this is the care and supervision giving to the mouth and it associate organs like the teeth, the tongues and palate. Oral care is also known as oral hygiene or mouth care, it is a deliberate effort made towards cleaning the teeth and the entire oral cavity.

These practices encourage good mouth breath and hence prevent halitosis (mouth dour), it prevent dental carries (tooth decay), it also strengthen the gum which support the root of our teeth.

HOW TO CARE FOR THE MOUTH

The use of tooth brush and tooth paste with a cup of clean house hold drinking water.

The texture of the toothbrush need to put into consideration because using a very strong tooth brush will cause bruises and injury to the gum and tongue hence a soft toothbrush is advisable to be used.
The type of toothpaste or mouth wash agent to be used need to be given a consideration; there are many mouthwash agent in the market but the sodium fluoride chief ingredient is best recommended for healthy teeth and refreshing mouth air.

**The use of chewing stick:**

this is one of the olden days form of oral hygiene which is also very effective in our present day because it remove dirt and food debris on the teeth Surface.

HAIR/NAIL CUT AND HAIR PLATING: I have seen some people who love to keep one or two of their finger nails to grow as long as 1cm, but some of these people left their nails very dirty which harbored some bacterial causing disease when ingested. Unlike me who don’t like keeping long nails, I cut them off with razor blade almost every weekend.
The boys should shave their beards and trim their hair more often because bushy hair and beards makes you look older than your age and makes you appeared as if you are insane.
The ladies need to wash your hair at the salon and cover the hair while cooking meals, plate your hair with a good hair style that will make you look more beautiful.

WASHING AND SWEEPING:
this is also a basic form of personal hygiene whereby the need to keep our immediate environment clean is of ultimate interest.
Washing can take the form of plate, cup, pot and other cooking utensil which is aim at keeping them clean after use. It can also involve washing of clothes and or toilet and bath room with soap, water and detergents.

While sweeping is done with a broom or its equivalent to keep our room or the entire house clean.

After sweeping your room it’s always good to mop the floor with clean water using a mop to get rid of dust and to remove stains on the floor.
Cleaning spider web off our ceiling and corners of room is also very essential.
