Good evening everyone.
You're all welcome to my blog. I'm so excited to be a part of this contest.
The theme for this week's contest is your favorite dish. I'm so excited about this theme because it reminds me of something.
Indeed we all have our favorite dishes as humans. What we prefer, might not be what others prefer.
My favorite dish is pepper soup rice, prepared with iced fish. This has always been my favorite dish right from my childhood.
When I was much younger, I used to see my mother preparing it, although I didn't know all the procedures she used in preparing it. The only thing I noticed was that she boiled the rice, sieved it, washed it, and returned it to the pot.
She would add water to it, with a little salt before she cooked it. Concerning the fish, she would use a kitchen knife to cut those fish into tiny pieces. After that, she used clean water to wash them very well before she added some spices to them and stirred them for some minutes before cooking.
I still recall that each time my mother prepared pepper soup rice, I didn't always prove stubborn so that she wouldn't stop me from eating.
If she sent me on an errand, I would make sure I ran to the place I was asked to go and buy something, and I would quickly buy what she requested.
I had never stopped running because the picture of that food and the position I would take while eating that food, most especially the fish, was always reflecting in my mind.
Once I get home, I hand over what I was asked to buy to my beloved mother, and then I find a seat and sit down beside her in case she needs my assistance.
Once she was done cooking, she would dish it onto my plate, and I would find a better place to sit down and eat.
That always makes me happy. Eating pepper soup rice has become part of me, and I'm used to it.
Something yesterday. I was feeling so weak and feverish, but at the same time, I was so famish. I didn't know what to prepare for myself.
But while I was still contemplating, pepper soup rice came into my mind. So I had to enter the market and purchase what I wanted. Immediately I reached home, I started preparing it.
Immediately it was done, I dished it onto my plate; I waited for about an hour before I started eating. Immediately after I finished eating, I discovered the fever had vanished away.
So this current incident reminded me of my Childhood days. I still recall that my mother prepared pepper soup rice for me each time I was sick, and after eating it, I would be fine.
