Forgetfulness is in all our nature, it's something we can't avoid because if our brain decides to recollect everything we encounter, the human race would be full of either mad or dead people or even both. Forgetting something in a way helps you worry less, but could have dire consequences depending on the value of what you are forgetting. We often forget because we lose concentration, whether it's because we're lazy or tired, or even by coincidence, forgetting sometimes would result in dire consequences and sometimes it would be something very clumsy. I've come to realize that forgetting always has an adverse effect on either the forgetter or someone else. When I was a child, my mum would often scold me for forgetting a lot. I've always had a wandering mind and then it was difficult to split my attention so I was often lost when given instructions.
Today I find multitasking very easy. It has become some kinda addiction for me because I can hardly do one thing at a time except things like driving that requires both my hands, legs and concentration. If one of these three were not in use they will probably be doing something else. It's one of the reasons I don't like writing with my phone because as it stands now I have to walk as I write, finding it difficult to sit and do so. As I'm writing, I find myself listening to my favorite podcast because my brain feels empty when I do just one thing alone and this has cost me a good number of things. The only time I seat to write is with my PC and when I do so, I am also doing something else with my ears since they are free lol. While this attitude has gotten me a job and has helped me complete tasks that would have taken forever, I have suffered the adverse effect of forgetfulness due to multitasking. Sometime last year I was working and going around my daily activities when I noticed our server was down.
As I tried to restore it back online I noticed that the IP address was blacklisted. Noticing that this was coming at a time where to do a server migration, I needed to change our IP address and then migrate which I did very well. But during the process of migration I was doing two other work related activities and wasn't even stable at my desk. After the migraine there were things I needed to change so that the changes I made during the migration didn't affect our second server but I didn't make those changes which was due to an oversight. Two months after I saw our second server was forcefully shutdown and that was when it occurred to me as the result of my mistake. The hosting company had charged us for the changes I made which was supposed to be reverted almost immediately and because I didn't revert it, I'm paying monthly until September to ensure the server stays working.
