Greetings!
Just like I always tell people, I've been into the lifestyle of capturing every moment of my life with my camera—not to post them on social media but to keep them. When I look back on them in the years to come, they'll give me satisfying memories. I love using my camera, and the people around me know me for that. So, when I pick up my camera to snap photos, they don't shy away; rather, they pose. And even when they're a bit reserved, I always get their permission. This means the photos are not just of me; I enjoy more group photos and also capturing moments that don’t include me because I cherish people a lot, especially friends and family. I have countless photos of myself, with friends, and with family on my phone, and it’s very hard to single out any one of them as the most special. But anyway, let’s take a look at these snapshots.
I grew up in the village, and this is the lifestyle we were brought up with. I remember posting this photo on my WhatsApp timeline, and a virtual friend came to my DM to say I shouldn't be posting "local photos." Lol. This photo was taken in April this year, when we went home for a burial celebration. I love this picture so much because it’s a rare moment for us to sit like this—outside in the compound, under a shade, eating food, and laughing together. You know, this kind of meal can never be as interesting and enjoyable without the talks and laughter mixed into it. This particular morning, we had just come back from setting up the party area, and the food was a “well-done” reward for the work we did that morning. Another thing is, the people there are not all my siblings. Some of them were tenants in the compound, and because we share a good bond, they joined us in the meal. Ohhh! People who grew up in the city might find it hard to relate to how sweet, cool, and entertaining it is to share a meal like this with people who aren’t your relatives.
The second photo has a similar theme and was taken in June this year when we went home for one of my sister's wedding. Yeah, we had just finished setting up the party area, and this was a “well-done” reward for the work done. The people in this photo are my siblings, cousins, and some passersby. Since our house is along the road and not fenced, they saw us and joined us without asking. Of course, with this kind of gathering, permission is hardly ever needed before someone joins the groove. As simple and “local” as these photos may look, they mean so much to me. They hold memories already, and in the years to come, they’ll only become more precious. Also, I don’t know when we’ll ever have moments like this again. Thanks for reading.
