THAT ONE HOLIDAY

It all started one day during the harmattan period in the holidays of the last month of the year popularly known as December, it was a day or should I say holiday always anticipated, the only chance when we get to go to the village to see our grandparents ( in this case my grandma because my grandpa is late) and all the many cousins you have heard of but never met in person. It was always a time of great anticipation of how your cousins would look like, act like, think like, the school they attend, the class they are in and so on and so forth.

This period is a very delicate period, when I say delicate I mean delicate like an egg, you might be wondering why I said this period is a delicate one, let me explain. It is a period where you have to be in your best behavior, go to school neat and early whatever task you are assigned to do, do it diligently and with a smile plastered on your face in order for “mummy to carry you along for the Christmas holiday”. It is always a period of anticipation because I remember my mum leaving my elder brother behind one Christmas because he went against her orders

The journey began to the southern part of my country Nigeria, Delta state, agbor to be precise, I just couldn't wait to get down from the vehicle in front of my grandma’s house. The joy of stepping down the vehicle and seeing your grandma outside waiting and waving at you from afar. I could remember one Christmas when I got down from the vehicle after greeting my grandmother I saw a dragonfly and loved the beautiful colors and decided to follow it I ran after it for a long time and got lost, still did not catch it 😞 😭and when I realized myself I was lost and scared at the same time. I was not scared because I was lost. Although a bit scared because I was lost, my main concern was that my mum was going to give me the beating of my life and of course trust my mum not to fail in her duties. I saw someone who knew my family and took me home, my mum thanked the person and the rest was history. She dealt with me in fact she gave me the beating of my life and I will never forget that day, all thanks to my grandma for saving me from her grip. I cried myself to sleep that night and when I woke up the next morning I was surprisingly refreshed and my mom on her side continued with her normal activities as if nothing happened the previous day.

Getting to meet my cousins was the best part, it was always a time of questions and answers but in most cases I was always out of breathe wanting to know everything without even give them the opportunity to talk. So sorry I don't have a picture of when I was younger, if you ask me, I don't know
Thanks for stopping by my blog. See you soon. 🤗

peace out ✌️

My God! Spending th holiday with extended family is the best thing after Nigerian jollof. @onyinye-chi do you think mothers receive a special training in beating children? Cos I can relate to that beating.

If you ask me who do I ask 😂😂 that beating is like an inbuilt talent 😂
