What is the sad thing about modern times? I think this is about green space which has been taken away from people because local people need money.
The green area around my house is also decreasing. Maybe in the next few years, I will find it difficult to find areas of rice fields which used to be people's main source of commodities.
That's why even now we have to look for other places to just escape from the really tiring busyness of the city center. In particular, I often look for cafes or restaurants that offer open green spaces. So, I can eat while enjoying the green space which calms my mind.
So, this time I share with you a restaurant that can calm me down. In this place, I discovered many new things. Especially a contemporary architecture with touches of vernacular things around.
Cabai Ijo Tepi Sungai Restaurant
This a huge restaurant by the river side! From the entrance area, we can see that this restaurant looks like an ancient castle building. However, it is given a touch of pastel blue which is softer and more modern.
People around who see this restaurant will immediately know that this is a restaurant that has a view of a river. Because at this location there is a river flowing. Also, from this restaurant itself Tepi Sungai means river side in English.
As soon as we enter this restaurant area, we will be offered indoor or outdoor seating. I chose an indoor location. But don't worry, I'll also share the outdoor view later.
First, I will show you the indoor space with its strong contemporary design. Various patterns and colors complement each other.
Contemporary design makes us believe that there are many different things that can be combined to form beautiful harmony. Yes, there are lots of variations, especially in the materials used in this place.
A Touch of Modern Design
We can find a modern touch, as well as a vernacular touch. In the modern touch, we will see this in the application of the restaurant floor and roof. Also, a little touch of modern sofa on the side near the wall which uses glass material.
I like how they rely on large mirrors to fill their wall space. The glass material really gives a real "huge space" touch to this restaurant. From these glasses, we can see the reflection of the outside. From the outside, the light reflected from the hanging lamps makes the indoor atmosphere more spacious.
Meanwhile, the maroon sofa is connected with other patterns, which can produce a luxurious touch.
On the roof, we can see a modern touch of PVC material with various designs. Equipped with contemporary style lamps which further support the modern style in this space.
A Touch of Vernacular Design
Then, what about vernacular designs that are influenced by local things? You can see interest in restaurant chairs. Chairs made from rattan material are used.
The interesting thing is the color of the rattan. Not always the original rattan color. There is also dark blue rattan which connects all the colors to have a beautiful harmonious value. I think this is very brilliant.
Vernacular design is also about the habits of the surrounding community. People here like to use restaurants as an escape from the stress of work. That's why we'll see more visitors in the afternoon, after people get home from work.
Vernacular architecture is felt in semi-outdoor areas. Space right on the river side. So, this place creates a green open space atmosphere that busy city people will love.
Green Open Space by the River
It would be great to be at this restaurant before sunset. A gentle breeze. Also, a river flow area that we can use as an escape for our minds to be calmer.
We will see lots of real plants. I mean trees in big pots. There are many restaurants that actually put artificial plants just for decoration. But this place is different. They give a real touch to the green trees.
On the side that is very close to the river bank, there is an iron barrier for security.
In the center of attention, there is a small fountain with a nice composition placed parallel to the line of the stairs.
This outdoor feels more vernacular. With lots of use of rattan. Also, the lamps are influenced by woven motifs.
This place is really like an escape for city people who are busy with work pressure. Also, for people who have difficulty finding green open areas in the area around where they live.
Anyway, this restaurant also has a beautiful and unique toilet with a terracotta design. I've posted about that toilet before. You can read: A Unique Toilet With Terracotta Concept
A trip that makes my eyes see new things. What a huge restaurant with the contemporary design that can connect many things at once. Becoming a harmony worthy of being enjoyed during our busy lives in a modern era.
